Meh, if they're going to do that, might as well make you re-roll a new character every time you die. Death penalties in games are stupid. Either go all the way or none at all.

If you had to reroll every time you died then you would never progress.

The lack of death penalties in other MMO's is what I hate most... people run out and die all day and it doesn't matter.

I only know the basics of MO, but given it's similarity to DF, weapons and armor are very easy to come by and the dmg to defense curve of your gear scales much less in terms of noob gear vs elite gear. You could take 4 players who have only spent a couple weeks playing against a veteran player fully decked out and the veteran would lose vs other games where 4 lvl 20's has no chance against a single lvl 50 player.

Ok, my uTorrent method worked. Currently there are three patches to download. Start the MO launcher, wait for it to begin then exit. The torrent file will now be in the folder I listed previously, and place when done in the folder I also listed. Run the launcher and wait for it to find the file. Rinse and repeat three times.

I had to also had to restart the game to be able to save my character.

There is no tutorial, only the H button (and youtube). There is also no in game map (crafted maps to be introduced later).

ALSO BE WARNED that there is full nudity when creating a character and I assume when you disrobe your character in game. Not for kiddies.

Graphically it is good for a MMO, but not quite as good as Oblivion.

Keep in mind - high res textures have not yet been added in. Also, speedtree 5 is being added in the near future. Aesthetically, the game will look much, much better soon. Unreal3 engine is good.

That's good to hear, I was a little disappointed to be honest.

Also, not really sure why there had to be full frontal nudity. Never going to see yourself like that again and everyone in the world is clothed. :hmm:

This game looks like the game I might have been waiting for. A game with real consequences and great crafting, where players actually provide a lot (even maps have to be player drawn. Cool idea!).

Downloading since yesterday but it crashed once so I had to start again. Now at 50%.

Played for a bit where are the monsters to fight? World seemed really empty and why the nudity? First time I get tea bagged I'm out.
Ran pretty well and I really didn't notice any lag which is great.

alright I found some bunnies of all things to fight in the woods but the camera got locked and one of them killed me, how do you resurect?

Lol! To answer your question look for the white pillers of 'smoke', and work your way to them. You'll find a priest close by where you need to hit 'tab' to interact, then 'R' to have him bring you back to life. Alternatively in the beta you can open up the stats (I think 'P') and hit 'bring to priest', but that will cost you some points.

And ironically, the thing you seem to want - progression - isn't hindered in those types of games. So which do you want? Progression or not?

I too find it odd that my mighty axe yielding warrior was taken down by a bunny....its like monte python

There seems to be lag issues in some spots, like a small herd of dear that was chasing away and killing everyone because they kept hitting you long after you moved away. I'd say in terms of what the game thought was going on, you were sitting still letting a rabbit nibble you to death.

Also note according to this http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/27227-lifting-nda.html they are aiming for a Q4 release date which gives me hope that a proper game will come from this.

They seem to have updated and fixed the MO launcher, so it now displays news and allows you to connect in seconds rather then minutes (or simply give you a error message 70% of the time). Also notice a lot less lag today after a 3mb patch, but I am in the middle of nowhere.

Skill points go up whenever you are using a particular skill. There are TONS of skills.

First-person only is a terrible decision and doesn't make any sense in a game like this. Oh well. Another failed "hardcore" MMO is on the horizon.
