New iMacs

That's a pretty solid GPU offering in that system. If I were in the market for one right now I would be alllll over it.
 
27" = Two MiniDP = Win

I'm wondering if this has Eyefinity support in Windows now..

I have a first generation 27" that I use at work. But I told myself that it would need to have two MiniDP for me to purchase one for home use, looks like I found my new system.
U2410 + 27" iMac + U2410.. mm.

Not a horrible price (but not good, either) for the 27", considering that a stand-alone monitor with that resolution is about $1k. You could get some work done on that machine, for sure.
 
Anyone have an idea how these GPU's stand up for gaming? I had another thread that asked about the current lines, and I was told they wouldn't play CS:Source and TF:2 all that well. They told me to wait for the new ones. These two games are, sadly, the only reason I haven't moved to a all-in-one system.

i have a radeon 6750m 1GB in my mbp and it runs cs:s and tf2 nicely at 1680x1050. i would imagine the 6970m would run it at 2560x1440 just fine as well.
 
I think I'm going to pick up the base 27". Stick in 16gb and connect my U2311H, should be a nice setup
 
If I had the $$$, the base 21.5 inch seems like a pretty damn good value. I still haven't come across any other AIOs that compare well to iMacs for the hardware and screen quality.

Two Thunderbolts, is very different, than two MiniDPs...
 
Why the hell doesn't Apple use USB 3.0?

Why do they feel the need to use this fucking Thunderbolt interface that no fucking one is using? Even they haven't released a product using Thunderbolt yet..
 
Solid upgrade. I've been wanting to use a desktop Mac for a while and replace my Windows power rig. The only thing missing might be Lion.
 
Btw, does anyone know if the new iMac can be used as a monitor for a MBP, PC or PS3?
I am not seeing any regular hdmi, DP or thunderbolt inputs.

The iMac has the only kind of Thunderbolt interface there is, so it is a standard Thunderbolt interface.

And yes, the video-in still works. You will need adapters to do it, but it will work.

I think the justification here is that Thunderbolt, especially 2 of it, is more than enough and will have USB 3.0 adapters when the need arise, so they didn't stick in 3.0.

Aside from that, if 3.0 turns out to be a flop then they wouldn't end up with ports that aren't fully utilized but cost them more to produce.

Just my 2 cents.

The 6750m is the same gpu they use in the 17" mbp's. It's a decent gpu. It'll play those games and most other from steam pretty well at 1920x1080. But you may have to turn down some features, like AA. The 6970M is about twice as fast(960 Shaders VS the 6750's 480 shaders.) but you won't need it for those games. Unless you wan't to max them out.
 
TheStu, isn't USB 3.0 native on the P67/H67 chipsets?

And runawayprisoner, how in the hell would USB 3.0 flop? It's clearly the logical upgrade to USB 2.0.
