New hotmail sucks and something I wish web developers would cut the hell out already.

anything other than "castle" with java sucks. I hate java. really really really hate it.

and hotmail also sucks because it creates two of every email in outlook express. it's still free, but free suck is still suck.

I use hotmail because it's easier for other people to remember a popular domain name. That and yahoo.

SHIFT + LFT Click will do the same 🙂

That was in Office XP. And in Outlook Express for years before that. Nothing new. The biggest thing with Office 2003 (aside from it needing Win2K SP3 or XP to run) is that it puts Publisher back into Office.

Agreed. I use Hotmail as my spam account, something to give out for signing up for forums and other places where if the address list gets sold the account is dumpable. For that purpose it was fine, but the new Hotmail BLOWS!! Any web designer who disallows links to be opened in a new window deserves to be locked in a small room with Hilary Clinton and Rosie O'donnell for all of eternity. Time to dump the hotmail accounts and get some new ones.

FWIW, Hotmail has apparently pulled off a 1st a Microsh*t and actually listened to angry customers. The javascript links are gone, you can now open internal links in a new window.

Unlike the old hotmail which had a dynamic link, within your inbox, for each message, the new hotmail finds itself in the need of using javascript on the links. So, instead of being able to right click a link and open in a new window you have to click the link and have javascript populate a stupid form on the page and that form's submission is how a link is opened. more and more sites are doing this and it buggarly bothers the sh*t out of me. The reason is that with hotmail for instance if I have 3 legit emails within 10 total (rest spam garbage), I'd generally right click and open all 3 in their own windows to read and then delete the others in my primary window. Now though I have to manually go through each one I want and then in a long contrived, 15 minute process, delete the other 7!

Plus, you can't log in to hotmail now and see how many emails you have without going the extra step to click on the MAIL button. Hotmail blows me!

I'm sorry if you read this far.

I totally agree with the new windows thing. PISSES ME OFF.

that doesn't work in firebird....

agree that the new interface sucks

no one emails my hotmail account
I only keep it because I've had it for like 8 years

I'm a web developer (J2EE) and the reason this is done, is because you normally have some sort of error checking before you follow the link. And that's where javascript comes into play.
Why would that be necessary for a link?
