Thanks for responding,

The problem is:

2-5 days after a clean Install--w/ full ratail Vista Ultimate,
My computer will not access control panel ...
I double click on it, it opens for a split second, then disapears...:(

I have done 6+ clean installs and am truly loosing my mind,
I can feel my life being slowly sucked away by Vista...:(

It sounds more like you keep catching a virus of some sort.

This is the Apparent source of the Problem...

You had 4 GB of RAM. That is a problem unless you installed 64 bit Vista. Bo back to the top and read Blain's sticky. It applies.

Blain

What to do? Send the RAM back to Crucial or, yeah . . . get out your 12 gauge.

BTW, the 9800 Pro is not a new, high end part. It is at least 4 years old.

4GB of RAM in Vista 32-bit isn't an issue. I had 4GB of OCZ Platinum DDR2-800 in my machine before I upgraded (well, switched two Vista copies around) to 64-bit. I had no problems with it.

Even before reading your remarks, I was going to say memory. Now I'm pretty sure there's a memory problem. Try running some memory diagnostics (which aren't full proof, but they help :)).

Have you tested your RAM yet? Test your ram using memtest.

This likely has nothing to do with Vista and everything to do with bad Nvidia drivers (the control panel issue is a known nvidia issue)

why dont you just install XP and enjoy your rig? I think you deserve it.

just ignore vista and all the people who get defensive about it until service pack 2.

Did you go into your system BIOS and make sure the timings and memory voltage is corrrect? It should be 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2V If its not manually set it and see if it fixes the problem.
