This show is well on it's way to accomplishing something I would have previously thought impossible, making me thoroughly sick of Zooey Deschanel.

The show is taking her "quirky cuteness factor," which I used to think was part of her inimitable charm, and flogging it for far more than it was ever worth.

I still wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers, though. 😎

I would pay to see a death match between her and Whitney from that other show whos name I cant remember.

I have been thoroughly entertained with the couple episodes my wife and I have watched. The most recent one with the parking dispute/guy with a gun was hilarious.

I like everything about her *characters* - except this one. I can't stand her as a person - not that I know, but her RL interviews leave me with a valley girl impression. I think they push her cutesy bullshit way too far in that show. In the show Weeds, she was the Alaskan weird psycho girlfriend of the brother-in-law. I fell in love with the crazy. While in this role its a little annoying - but not nearly as bad as the squeaky-voiced girl in Big Bang Theory. I would still however plow over and over again both those chicks, but only after I had my fill of Dr. Mayim Bialik.

BTW the show New Girl as a whole is fucking hilarious.

yeah but the last episode had lizzy caplan in it

 lizzy caplan

edit: she doesn't photograph well but damn was she hot in true blood

I watched the pilot and knew it would suck, but Zooey is definitely a cute girl.

It was funny when she guest starred on Bones (her sister's show) and the characters kept making comments about how similar they look.

I love the show and I'm not sick of her at all. I could see the show growing old though, but I just got into it last December so I've seen probably half dozen episodes. I can't share the show with my wife though, as she doesn't like quirky comedies.

I dunno, I think the show is funny... But then again, I also liked Prime Suspect and it was canceled, and I also liked Terra Nova, which is still in limbo... So what do I know?

I grew to really like Prime Suspect. I thought all the characters were really well done! I think PS was a victim of it's own unfortunate branding, because it was really nothing like the English/Helen Mirren original. I remember truly disliking the pilot when I saw it because I was expecting something more like the original, which it wasn't except on the surface particulars.

As for New Girl, I think the problem with quirky comedies is that you either innately "groove with da quirk" and love them or you don't. If you don't, then that particular brand of quirky artifice quickly becomes tiresome and annoying.

For instance, I really like Happy Endings, another show which I think is fairly brilliantly cast and written. But I can understand why those who have seen it and don't like might so feel. <shrug>

Last few episodes have been hilarious in my opinion. New Girl is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows.
