Announcement: Intel® Solid-State Drive Firmware Update Dec. 1, 2009 Show Details Hide Details Intel has released a new firmware (02HD) and firmware update tool (version 1.5) to fix the issue with the firmware update process on 34nm (G2) Intel® X25-M SSDs (80GB and 160GB).

Intel recommends that end users Download this firmware update tool and upgrade your SSD

• This new firmware provides Trim support (on 80GB and 160GB) and better sequential write performance (on 160GB)

• If you experience any issues during the upgrade process contact Intel Customer Support

Is this worth upgrading from 02HA?
 
I tried it. It said to put my SSD in IDE mode first. Then it said I was already up to date. Hmmm. Maybe I was. I was waiting for the new firmware but never tried.
 
Out of the 5 Intel SSDs I have, one of them is a G1. I really hope Intel will eventually release an SSD Optimizer for the G1 owners.
 
I just finished the upgrade on my gatewayFX p7505 laptop. It came with vista on a 250GB drive with an extra HD bay and I added in the G2 for a dual boot with Win7. In bios, I downgraded SATA connection to IDE from ACHI for the flash of the G2 to the new firmware. After reboot, I reset ACHI in BIOS, rebooted into WIN7 - it detected a new device and requested restart and it booted up fine. i didn't run any tests, I'm just glad it didn't brick my OS install.
 
Just updated from 02HA to 02HD, no problems. Did not have to turn off AHCI. AS SSD benchmark went from 437 with 02HA to 434 to 02HD. I'd say close enough to be called about the same to account for different system states possibly.
 
Hey guys, I'm seeing the same issue I saw with the Vertex I had. Using Office 2007 as an example as it is the clearest indicator (though this is NOT the only program I'm noticing this on):

When I first installed everything Word and Excel opened in an instant with the SSD. After using it for like a week or so, it now takes the SSD longer than my old Velociraptor to open those programs (used to be ~2 secs now takes more than 10-15 secs.) Does anyone know what I can do? Is there something in Win7 I should turn off (I thought Superfetch and its ilk were turned off auto by Win7)? Is the fault my mobo or something? I know each time it's a fresh install it opens instant but then no longer does so after a few days.

I should add: This is true before and after the firmware update.
