The graphic is awesome, too bad the gameplay will be exactly like doom, quake, quake II (not that I didn't like them, I was expecting something more). That was my impression from the video, hope I'm wrong.

What did you possibly expect? There's only so much you can change in the playability department with a first person shooter. They all have to have exploring, shooting, switching weapons, etc...

Really nice lighting, shadowing and detail. Now it needs some outdoor levels. And water too. The thing that blew me away 3 years ago with the Unreal Tournament demo was the water effects, it looked more real than in previous FPS, including half life. But I don't see anything new in water rendering lately, for UT2k3 nor DoomIII. Maybe just requires too many polys or or what? I've seen some nice water effects in bryce (have one as my desktop backround) but of course that is a still rendering and not realtime.

Check out Morrowind for some beautiful water (assuming you have a card that has pixel shaders). I've found myself standing there and staring at the water during a thunderstorm for a good 10 minutes straight. It's simply amazing.

Some things I noticed, the pace will kick your ass when you go hand to hand with an enemy, and did you all see when one of the baddies was coming down the stairs and got blasted? he didnt bounce down or drop where he stood, he fell like you would expect to see some one fall, the physics look awesome! :D

Yes the physics are incredible. Also near the beginning when all the stuff is falling off the shelves and the sparks going everywhere...it looks real!

After playing Half-Life, Deus Ex, No One Lives Forever, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, I want more from Doom III than running around shooting and looking for colored keys.

Link? everything I've read said PC only, with no plans for Xbox. Sure it's possible, but currently there are no plans.
Can't help you dudez0r :(

Link was in a discussion on IGN's forums about 6-9 months ago. I don't even know where to search for it. I want to say it was a Gamespot article. Carmack said that the Xbox could do it if it broke down the levels into smaller chunks. I was pretty sure that he said that it would be on the machine. Now that I think about it though I'm not so sure. I'll do some looking later. Hopefully it'll be PC only, where it belongs. Back to GTA3 :D

I rarely go "ga ga" over visuals but MW's water is utterly amazing. It ripples realistically as you move through it, when rain hits it, etc. The surface reflections are incredible and you can see down into the depths. I soiled myself. Then I regrouped and went on to play the game. :)

Is it just me, or does it look as though D3 has pretty much lifted the plot of Half-Life wholesale? Scientific experiment goes awry, things blow up, creatures materialize, you are the only one who can save humanity . . . I will of course buy it the day it comes out!

sorta but not really:

GameSpy: We've been told a few times that DOOM III is basically a retelling of the old story? but it seems like a lot more than that, going for more of a horror approach?

Tim Willits: Exactly. It's like the original never happened. The player is on the Mars base, and they arrive sometime before the invasion so they can walk around in a non-threatening-type environment. They can sense something's wrong, then "the event" happens, and the pinkydemons attack. There are people that aren't possessed that are working with the player ? or they're working against with the player -- there's lots of mystery, there's lots of suspense. As you saw in the video, there's a good amount of scary horror scenes.

The first game was an over-the-top action game. We want a scary-horror action game. It is a slower pace, as you saw, but we think that pace will really help immerse the player in that terrifying experience.

Also this quote...

GameSpy: id games have never exactly been known for having an in-depth story, all about action. We already know that the new game is a retelling of the original DOOM ? what are the goals in hiring a writer, etc?

Graeme Devine: The goals are to make it as if you're in full control of a horror movie. It really should be on that scale, that you feel you're in full control at all times, I'm doing everything as the player, and I'm experiencing the background story, which is going along, and it's really beginning to talk to me, and get to me?

We want to give it that style of background in your head, so even when you're not playing the game, you're still thinking about the game.

Thanks for hosting the video AdamDuritz99. :)

It'd be really nice if id released an official version though, I wonder why their asking people to take the video down, its amazing even if it is a cam vid.
