Lighting does matter in the original game, it has the same stealth system as the Thief series, but no one said the AI was fantastic.

So essentially lighting doesn't actually matter in the original game since the AI is so poorly done that it doesn't make much difference.

Deus Ex isn't perfect, and I'd love to be spotted by AI while leaning. (So they should have taken the chance and improved that in HR instead of simply removing it completely) Even so, it's much more challenging when you have a limited view from leaning, compared to the camera moving up and over crates, and around corners. You can even see over higher cover than your behind since the camera raises so much.

So don't use it then.

K? So every mediocre run and gun shooter uses it, so that means it has to be perfect for a highly tactical RPG with an existing inventory and consumables.

Stop being obtuse, even roleplaying games have had regenerating health. And since when has Deus Ex been a highly tactical RPG?!?

Don't bother making counter points, because I don't care to debate this. It's my personal opinion that they have dumbed down the game to appeal to a mass audience. It appears to be a very simple, easy game, with very annoying interface and HUD features. I don't care if you think it is isn't.

Right. You are just looking for things to hate about the new game and all you have done is exaggerate or invent things about both of them.

We have different tastes, its as simple as that. You may like the direction they take HR, and that's fine by me. I hate the direction they have taken it however, and if you need to insult me, and say I'm inventing things to justify the fact you can't deal with a differing opinion, well be my guest. I'd recommend you find a good 'Deal With It' GIF however.

This sums up my feelings

Just seen it. Just beautiful and mostly true. Don't know if it's at the tank of elephant size but it's bellow expectations for me.

Just out of curiosity, what RPGs have had automatically regenerating health? That seems so counter-intuitive for most RPG forumals, where health, stat and inventory management is a large chunk of the game.

KotoR 2 is the only game I can remember at the moment.

Doesn't Dragon Age: Origins have regenerating health too?
There's a number of RPG's that have health that regenerates over the course of multiple minutes, but that can't be compared to the 30 seconds to full health that it takes in HR. Most RPG's have health regeneration merely so when you are in town during long periods of down time, your health will be full by the time your ready for another quest. HR's is set up more like an action game however, so it will be regenerating during short periods of stealth play, or after retreating for a few moments. It's just two incomparable systems.

Dragon Age 2 'features' complete regeneration in between encounters. I'm apt to attribute that game's spawntastic encounters to that fact.

This is a shame. Regenerating health removes depth. In particular, it means that there's no net difference between completing an encounter exceptionally well, and barely surviving. It drains away one of the main motivators for excelling in any particular situation - to preserve limited resources.

Am I correct in assuming that in addition to destroying health management concerns, they've also nuked the locational damage effects as well?

Lol I love how it starts out with "PRESS START"

Yeah it doesn't feel like Deus Ex at all...man I loved that first game.

When I think about it, it feels more like Splinter Cell more than anything...

Man Splinter Cell...the first was sooooooo goood. Never played past that, so I don't know how good/bad the others were

But if we think a little the 1st Deus EX was launched a long time ago.It is hard to compare a feeling after many related games have been played.
just think at the fact that when the 1st one was played there weren't so many to chose from and the feeling was kind of unique. I think this is the main problem with modern games: they are to much compared to previous versions.

I really don't know of many modern games that are similar to Deus Ex, so I don't know what related games I'd be comparing it to.
