New death penalty cocktail. Seems effective.

Did you even read what you linked?
Propofol was to be used as a substitute drug. Besides the fact that it was not used in this instance, if it had been, it would have been because, are you ready, because zealots made phenobarbital unavailable. Hope your knee didn't hit you in the chin too hard.

I was going to address the rest of your diatribe in more depth but it can once again be explained by zealots making phenobarbital unavailable so a substitute was found.

The progressive mind, instead of thinking, it uses a lot of words.

diatribe (ˈdaɪəˌtraɪb) n1. a bitter or violent criticism or attack; denunciation

[C16: from Latin diatriba learned debate, from Greek diatribē discourse, pastime, from diatribein to while away, from dia- + tribein to rub]

What "diatribe" would you be referring to?

I simply posted a set of links that showed that there were plenty of reasons other than the efforts of some activists as to why there were supply problems.

I notice that you didn't address the other links to the pharmaceutical companies and why they stopped supplies on their own accord.

Why would that be?

Why not just use those captive bolt guns we use to stun cows?

Pretty sure it'd be lethal on its own if used on a human.

If not, just stick a tube in an artery and let them bleed out after stunning them.

If death by drug overdose (effectively the same, as an IV version of Valium and your choice of narcotic) is good enuf for Hollywood movie stars, rock stars, and junkies - seems ok for dead men walking. Midazolam and Hydromorphone costs barely exceed several dollars at the most.

btw, you think that I'm some kind of American "progressive"? If that's true, ROFL!!!!!!!
Oh fuck no, I don't think that at all. You're just another one of many Canadians here that feels they need to share their wisdom.

So what's going on up in Canuckistan worth talking about?

Not much, highest world ratings in everything keep coming
But those topics always seem to make people mad here, so not worth bringing up

Brag it on up baby! Don't worry about ruffling a few feathers here. You should probably start a new thread though because the anti death penalty outrage could possibly take root in this thread.

But before you run off, any interest in say, 10 or maybe even 20 million illegals? We need to spread the love around a little. You guys have got an open border policy, right? They'll be looking for shelter, food and education for their kids. Oh and free healthcare because it's not free here.

Na..not much of a bragger

The continued existence of the death penalty in the USA shows that even progressive societies like to hold onto anachronistic barbarism from time to time.

I wonder the limit--if there is one--to the joy some of you would take into e physical suffering of another. Perhaps a new drug cocktail can come out that makes the death take an hour, or maybe two. Or maybe a drug that puts a person into pure agony for six months long. Would that sate you? Would you not be entertained? Does their pain atone for their crime?

No comment as to wisdom but I believe that this is a forum open to anyone in the world to debate/discuss issues is it not?

Our Prime Minister is pissed off with a rock star. The mayor of our largest city is an idiot with probable ties to gangs. It's been damn cold through most of the country (except where I live  ). We're getting ready to win another gold medal in Olympic men's hockey. A kid got kicked out of a high school cause some folks didn't like the words printed on her sweatshirt.

While their pain doesn't undo their crime, it's sometimes as close as we can come to a valid punishment. I would HAPPILY give the 6 month version to at least a couple people who would otherwise be taking up space in our prisons. It doesn't even have to be a drug...let me in there and I'll personally work 40 hours a week administering constant torture to them.

Dilaudid and versed OD will kill you, but it will take a while. Agonal breaths are not unexpected, in fact his reaction is exactly what I would expect. Thats why you need to add a muscle relaxant, so no one can see the victim move. Versed to cause amnesia, Rocuronium to stop movement and breathing. Wait 15 minutes, painless and done.

From your very own constitution I present, the 8th amendment:

"Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

exactly... cruel AND unusual punishment

That means if we keep doing it then it won't be unusual anymore, just cruel, and we're good to go!

Why was there even a debate on air hunger? Opiates are used to prevent the sensation of air hunger.

Hydromorphone = opiate.

Anyways, video.

fuck drugs. bring back the guillotine. quick and painless.

+1, If I had to go that would be the #2 choice.

#1 is having a major artery opened and then being bled dry, maybe upside down to make sure I completely drain out. That way I can have an open casket funeral. It;s also quick kind of painless and cheap. They could hook up an IV to collect the blood so it's contained.

Dexter status.

As opposed to making the death take decades?
Taking a person and locking them in a 6x9 windowless cage for the rest of their natural life, with no hope of escape, ever, is a fate worse than death.
It is not civilized that we do this to people, nor should we fool ourselves that we are alleviating their suffering.
We do this for ourselves. We do it because we're afraid we might have been wrong.

You presumably confiscate tons of heroin a year?

Why not just use a massive dose of that?

Yeah its of dubious quality but use enough of it and it'll work, and theres no suffering.

Or cost.

This. I've always wondered why they don't use heroin, or morphine. IV ten grams and it's bliss, nod off and then complete respiratory shut down. Quick, easy, painless, and free.
