My review:

I liked AROBTTH, but this one is a major letdown.

Back to Doves...

It's good, but inferior to rush of blood to the head. At least that's what people tell me.

Rush of Blood to the Head is an awesome album. I doubt they can match it...or top it. But I still wanna hear the new one and do a comparison.

Do you like that style of music (U2/Coldplay style pop)?

If so, you really need to be listening to Doves. They've been doing it better, and longer than Coldplay. They're fairly huge in the UK but virtually unknown here, despite making some very good albums.

Check them out - official site

They have three albums out so far: Lost Souls, The Last Broadcast , and Some Cities, which was just released in March. I'd give you a favorite songs list, but it'd fill the page. Lost Souls & Last Broadcast are both start-to-finish listening goodness. Some Cities is a slight departure, but its growing on me.

Why do every song start so slowly? Gawd... its like 1 minute of nothing before the song picks up. I was so looking forward to it but it's nowhere near as good as rush of blood to the head :(

Out or out out?

Considering it comes out June 7th, answer your own q.

owned

Coldplay's record label EMI have a lot riding on the band's new album 'X & Y' and are reported to be keeping it under tight security until the official release date.

The stringent decision has been made in order to stop the release from falling in the wrong hands and appearing on illegal download networks before it is unleashed to the public.

Coldplay's follow up up to the incredibly successful 2002 breakthrough release 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' stands to make enormous revenues for the record label, and the album is likely to be one of the biggest selling releases of the past decade.

An advance leak of the album would have great reprecussions for EMI Music, and potentially make an impact on its own commercial future. EMI have already lost a substantial amount of revenue due to the delay in the album's release where share prices plummeted earlier this year.

It is reported that 'X & Y' will be kept in sealed music players with security guards.

Even music reviewers and critics, who usually receive advance copies of releases for reviews in monthly publications, must adhere to the tight security policy surrounding the album.

Instead of a CD promo copy, reviewers may only preview Coldplay's third album via an iPod which is locked in a glass case and surrounded by security guards.

The question remains though, if the album leaks what will EMI say or do? It will be a major pie on the face for the music giant.

The album is released on June 6th. The first single from the album, 'Speed of Sound', which has already become the biggest selling

I got an advance copy of X&Y from a buddy in the industry. I really like it, particularly "Fix you." My vote =

Let me know what you think. They aren't my favorite band, but I've recently realized just how underappreciated they are.

They originally started as one of those Manchester dance/techno bands. They were called sub sub. Had one big club hit then disappeared for a few years. They reappeared as a pop/rock group and released Lost Souls which floored me the first time I heard it.

Some of their songs still have heavy (though much slower) dance club beats. There Goes the Fear from The Last Broadcast comes to mind. So does The Cedar Room from Lost Souls.

I will check doves out, and evidently the security for X&Y was inadequate, since I hear some people already have a final version.

yep, flacs of the japanese edition (w/ a bonus track or two) have been out for a bit now. surprised it didn't leak months ago, given how big they are now.

IMHO...it sucks.... they played the whole thing on XRT the other day. Now i know most of you hate U2...but I consider this whole album a big U2 ripoff.. a LOT of the songs use the edges delay "technique" and his voice sounds a lot like Bonos... I have a friend who is a hardcore U2 nerd and he said a lot of the intros to songs were direct rips of U2. Coldplay even announced they wanted to be "the biggest band ever"....the EXACT quote U2 said 20-30 years ago. Coldplay used to be good (their 1st album) but I think theyve gone downhill a LOT since

I was a big fan of the band before anyone in NA had heard of them. I loved Parachutes from start to finish and attended many of the band's first, tiny Toronto gigs. I met Chris Martin about five years ago, at one of their concerts. I told him I was dying to hear more music as I loved even their b-sides and EPs.

I wasn't a big fan of AROBTTH, aside from a few tracks.

I haven't listened to this new ablum in its entirety, but I'm not blown away by the first listen.

I dunno, I've been listening to it for about a week now and it's starting to grow on me. I don't think it's as strong as their last LP but it's a different direction for them. The songs are more epic.

I am still pissed that they fvcked up Talk though.

I don't think that it's been leaked, this close to launch they're probably sending shipping them out to wholesalers and stores so it's hardly surprising that someone snagged a copy. Not a bad album all in all, I don't regret pre-ordering it.

No, it leaked last week, I've had it since then.
