Great choice on the car.

It'd be my first choice if I could afford to spend 30k+ on a ride...

BUT, i also wanna know where in gods name you live if its only 1600$ a year for YOU AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND on this brand new STI and a 97 celica, for you being 20, something must be wrong....im 18 and insure only my 96 corolla, and its about that much a year, FOR JUST ME.

awesome car! congrats. i have a WRX, and it already drives like nothing else. I'm sure the STi is even better.

and don't worry about all the ppl saying its rice or the wing is too large blah blah blah, they've just never gotten the pants beaten off them by a scooby :)

Enjoy that. The Lancer Evo VIII got better overall scores, but I doubt you'll complain. :D

it did? All the reviews said they have equal strengths and weaknesses. For instance the STi handles better, the Evo has a better interior. I think the Evo is fugly IMO.

WTF? I think you got it the other way around. Nearly all the mags had the Evo handling sharper and better and more driveable. The STi had the better interior and more straightline power by a good chunk. But that's nothing that a simple $20 boost controller on the Evo can't fix. :D
Yeah, the Evo's front end is fuglified and it's taillights are riced, but it looks quite nice in person despite that.

Stealerships in my area are out for rape-age if you want an STi or Evo. One of my SCCA buds who currently owns a WRX was thinking about moving up but even with the trade-in of his 2001 WRX, he'd be making payments of over 800. :p

Is it me, or is that a big scratch on the hood? j/k :)

Very sweet car. I've always wanted a rally edition WRX and a track in my yard. Sigh, maybe one day. :D
My youngest brother is probably gonna end up with one of these(blue though) when he starts driving, its in the same price range as my truck and my other little brother's jeep and he's been wanting a WRX for about 5 years. :wine:

btw- How's it feel in the curves?

Thanks for the congrats and compliments everyone! The car has been an absolute joy to drive and puts a big grin on my face everytime I step into it. :)

I visited my dad a few days ago and we drove my STi and his Boxster S back to back. He noted the incredible power delivery of the STi - very smooth and very non-turbo like. Said it felt a lot like his Boxster's flat 6 but with more pull, and he instantly fell in love with the sound of the flat-four - sounds a lot like his own flat-six. The Boxster S is noticeably nimbler and has better turn-in response, but it is an extremely well balanced car so that's a given when compared to the STi.

We did open up the STi a bit on the drive - gave it about 2/3rds throttle in 2nd and 3rd gear up to 4k RPM - and wow you can really feel the power building as it pushes you back in your seat. That's about the hardest I've pushed the car since I've had it. As of today she has about 450 miles on her, so I'm nearly halfway through the break in period. This thing is going to be so much fun. :D

Well, more updates if you're interested:

Bought our insurance policy today. Came out to just over $1800/yr for my girlfriend and I on this 04 STi and her 97 Celica GT Limited Edition Convertible. Little more than I originally thought, but the original quote was for a WRX, not a $31k STi. Still it's definitely not bad, considering I'm only 21.

If I had to pick something to complain about thus far, it would be the wheels and brake dust. The dusting of the brake pads is just downright ridiculous, and the 10-spoke design makes it a real PITA to clean the wheels. Oh well. :p

Haven't gotten to drive it much the past few days as I've been busy with other stuff. About 550 miles on the car now. Lemme know if you'd like to see pics of any specific area or thing on the car and I'll snap pics if I can find my A40. :)

Sure, I'll see what I can do.

If you're looking for wallpaper sized shots of the interior, I've uploaded a few here. I didn't take any of those though, I'm a crappy photographer.

I've used some of those off and on over the past few months as my desktop wallpaper when I was still waiting for the car. Now it's back to scantily clad and generously proportioned anime women though. :p
