My dealer called me today and told me my car should be coming in on Thursday, July 3rd. I've got my financing set at 5.4% for 60mo, though I'm still considering a 48mo loan. I'm so freakin excited, I absolutely cannot wait. These next six days are really gonna test my patience.

Oh I'm getting one of these:
1
2
3
That exact body/wheel color combo.

:)

-------------------------
*Update July 28th*
-------------------------

Better late than never. What happened was, the dealer ended up getting only half of their allocation and none were white. I had a chance to jump on a blue one but I decided to pass and wait for a white one to show.

Fast forward to today, and I'm the brand new owner of a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi in aspen white wearing silver wheels. Options were security system upgrade, armrest extension, and wheel locks - bringing the price to $31959 after options and destination.

Car 1
Car 2
Car 3

The power delivery is just ridiculous. Pulls very well in every gear, can notice absolutely no turbo lag whatsoever. It just goes like a bat out of hell, even with the < 4k RPM break-in limit (first 1k miles). The hood scoop is simply massive (can almost fit my fist through it), and the bulge is definitely noticeable from inside while you're driving. The rear wing also takes up a good 1/3rd of the rear view mirror. That'll take a little while to get used to.

All in all I'm way more than satisfied. I was in and out of the dealership in less than an hour (would've been even quicker if they weren't behind on their PDIs), and the car drives like a dream.

:D

I am beyond envious...if I had even a remote change to buy that car, I'd go for it and put myself in hock for the next five years.

Good choice.

Bastage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :|

:D Congrats. I would've gotten blue, though.

How much did you put down? What options? I would get them all. :D

Oh, how I wish I could afford 600$/mo for a car... Plus insurance.

How much is insurance going to rape you?

I'm actually fairly happy about the rate I got. My credit record is very sparse and short and I actually had one place completely deny me because of that. The 5.4% was the best I got and it was from a local credit union that I've been with for a couple years.

I'm gonna take a wait-and-see approach with the wing. Drive it around for awhile and see just how badly it impairs rearward vision. If it's really that annoying, I'll probably do a trunk swap with a WRX owner and make some cash off it. Alternatively I'll consider getting a whole new trunk and swapping the original trunk with the wing on just for track days.

So you're gonna race this?
(I'm not criticizing, just curious)

Hehe Eli, I know you're a big fan of the car. If you lived closer I wouldn't mind giving you a ride along. :)

Putting down about 13-14k and a trade-in that's worth maybe 2k max. Shouldn't need much more than a 20k loan so the payments will be about $400/mo for 60mo or near $500/mo for 48mo.

I had no choice on options, they come with whatever they decide to put on at the port. The dealers so far have no choice on color or options either, they just receive whatever they are allocated. My dealer said most of his have been coming with wheel locks, armrest extension, and security system upgrade.

Our current insurance company is fairly crappy and I've shopped around a lot in the past month. We're gonna go with Liberty Mutual as they offered us the lowest rates. It'll be about $1600/yr for myself and my girlfriend on the STi and her 97 Celica GT Convertible. But I wouldn't be surprised if that went up once the companies realize what an STi is and actually have an entry for them in their database, rather than just insuring it as a 32k WRX.

I'll have pics as soon as I bring her home. :)

Yeah I plan to. Probably won't happen this year because we're going to save for a fairly expensive sewing machine for my girlfriend. As soon as I have the spare time and funds though, she will get to see a real track. In the meantime I may stick to local auto-x, though I've never been a huge fan of it.

I went to a NASA HPDE at Laguna Seca earlier this year with a friend who owns a WRX wagon. Was an absolute blast and I'm really looking forward to being able to do some laps with the STi. This will be my first extremely high-performance car, so I'll have a lot of learning to do. I'm looking forward to it though. :)

Oh, wow. Nice down payment. That will really help with the monthlys, the 600$/mo figure I quoted was only with 2k down, lol.

Hmm, that's kinda interesting about the options. Guess it doesen't really matter, you could always add the other things yourself..

Damn, the insurance isn't NEARLY as bad as I thought it would be. :Q Hopefully it doesen't go up tooo much... I hope to have one in the next few years. :D My girlfriend and I are both going to go in on it, that should help make the monthly's more.. payable.

Hopefully we don't fight over who gets to drive too much. ;)

I'm actually surprised about the insurance myself. I'm only 20 (turning 21 in less than three weeks) so I'm still in the high-risk group and I was expecting a bit higher. I asked our agent to double and triple check, and he said that's how much it was. I'm definitely not complaining. :)

There really aren't that many other options to get. I'm gonna piece together an aftermarket sound system because the stock one is quite mediocre (and not to mention way overpriced).

I had a choice between white, blue, or black. Black is out of the question because we already own a black car, and swirls/spidering shows up so easily on it. Feels like I have to zaino it every month just to keep it looking decent. Blue I like, but I just think it draws too much attention to the car - which already is an attention-magnet as it is - so I don't need any more of that.

You can be my co-driver if I ever realize my dream of being a rally driver. ;):D

Whats up with the spoiler, children can get stuck in there...

Nah that's just a handle to help you get leverage if your car gets disabled and you need to get out and push. Children/squirrels/low flying birds get swallowed by the monstrous hood scoop up front. It also doubles as a post office drop box. ;)

Boy, I bet you're anxious right about now.

You've probably already gone to bed so tomorrow will "come faster". :D

1600 a YEAR for the both of you (and your only 20!!) for two cars??? I am soooooo ENVIOUS OF YOU!! Damn you and your cheap insurance rates!! :p

Btw, the STi does awesome in Auto-x. I personally saw an STi go at it on a VERY tight track (so tight that the S2000 owners were complaining about it), and it did really well. It was on stock tires as well (while the rest were on R-compound or slicks).

Just got my new ride two weeks ago.

20th Anniversary GTI

(hint: more pics if you change the number ;))

BTW the STI is a sweet car. Out of my price range though. Besides, I've been a fan of GTI's since the 80's.

Ah, the WRX STi. Famous for its juvenile ricer-style wing and industrial-strength hood-mounted bug killer.

Enjoy that. The Lancer Evo VIII got better overall scores, but I doubt you'll complain. :D

Well? WELL?!?!

Heh. It's still light out in Cali. He's probably joyriding around still.

Be easy on 'er! Don't forget about the 1,000 mile breakin period..........

it did? All the reviews said they have equal strengths and weaknesses. For instance the STi handles better, the Evo has a better interior. I think the Evo is fugly IMO.
