New Build Problems

I put together a new computer last night with the following piece:

DFI NF4 Ultra-D
Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester
2 x 512 PDP Patriot Memory
Chaintech 6600GT
Zalman CNPS7000B Heatsink/fan
Fortron Blue Source 500w PS
WD 120GB SATA HD

Everything went according to plan except now whenever I try to install windows I get a nice BSOD with this message "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". Now I know what IRQ's are and I wrote down the list of them but I am not sure which device is causing the problem.

(Perhaps devices with the same IRQ number? ie. Network Controller, Serial Bus, and USB 1.0 all use 5)

I messed around in BIOS to change some things but in the end nothing worked and I don't know enough to continue. Thanks for any suggestions and welcome to the forums :).

Hi,
Welcome to the forums.
Hope ppl here can help.

To get the BIOS in a working state again, unplug the system from the power, and find the ClearCMOS jumper [CLRCMOS or CR-CMOS etc]
Set it for a few seconds, then put it back again. If you are not sure where it is, it is usually near to the CMOS battery and is marked. Look in the mobo manual to make sure.
That should reset the CMOS.

If you can boot now, then get in BIOS and make sure the DDRAM voltage is set to 2.7.
If still no luck, can raise that in the smallest increments and try again - probably a safe max might be about 2.8v

That should keep you busy for an hour - let us know how it goes

Thanks for the tip but I believe I fixed the problem. All I did was update BIOS to the latest and then reset bios to defaults and windows finally loaded. I then ran MemTest for about 700% with no problems and finished the rest of my installs. Thanks again!
