new build problem.. computer wont turn on

^ great tip!

I just tried it and the psu worked so thats good. Heres a question, lets say I incorrectly plug the case cables (such as led lights or harddrive lights).. Will that in anyway affect the power switch?

did you try pulling out the motherboard.. and disconnecting everything but a single stick of ram, video card, processor/hsf and psu ?

disconnect any usb header cables, etc.. and then try shorting the power pins again.. to entirely rule out any type of short

Yes, I tried all of that. I have no idea whats wrong so Im left with the impression that the cpu and mobo are incompatible?

Seems like you've tried everything. Guess it's time to try a different mobo (that's not a Biostar). Or ask Biostar if your CPu isn't compatible.
