Dammit I can’t find the atv12v connector for my seasonic focus gold.
Do I need that connector if I am not overclocking?

Here’s the motherboard image (asrock x570 steel legend)

I had to use both. It wouldn't boot until I did. I have the X570 Taichi by Asrock.

I agree, use both, sometimes at stock it can cause a problem. If you don;t have another 4+4 CPU cord, time for e new PSU

Are they standard?
I have a Corsair hx620 and and antech earth watt hanging around.
Could I use an antec or Corsair plug in a seasonic?

Use both if possible, but should work with just an 8 pin. Seasonic Focus Gold is a good PSU so t hat shouldn't be a problem.

Should be able to. It's just 12V and ground. Thankfully the days of custom Dell PSU's and the like seem to be past us.

All I know is that it is becoming more of a standard to have both, and several threads have comfirmed it IS required in some cases. I actually had to replace a 850 Corsair (or something like that) because it only had ONE 4+4 (or 8 pin) CPU plug.

I just googled and found a spec on what I think is your PSU, and it has this:

1 x 20+4-pin ATX
1 x 4-pin +12V
1 x 8-pin EPS12V
2 x PCI-Express
10 x 4-pin peripheral
2 x 4-pin floppy
8 x SATA

The 4 pin 12v MUST be the other one other than the 8 pin EPS12V. So it SHOULD work unless I have the wrong PSU. I found it here:

Edit: i just reread your post. Do NOT use the cords from the others PSU's, replace the entire unit, but it looks like the 620 will work.

Yes use the right modular cable, for your particular model. Do not mix them, even if it looks like it will fit. Better to order a new cable from seasonic for that actual model, or even a new PSU, if need be. Mixing modular cables can kill stuff.

Okay everyone appears it is working, powered on, I love the new higher resolution bios/UFEI stuff
I tore apart my house looking for the other cable and could not find it so I picked up a 3 pack CableMod cable. Per CableMod website seasonic ssr850 gold is fully supported. Previous poster is correct machine would not power on without the additional 4 pin connected.
Funny having the back of the case display a rainbow on the wall from all the RGB stuff on the Corsair pump & motherboard.
Also the machine is ridiculously quiet, I’ve used the same app to test my old machine which was 45ish decibels with its old fans, changing to be quiet fans moved it down to 40 decibels, current machine reading from same location is below.

Edit: above was with the fans & pump running in quiet mode. 30C(ish) at idle
I changed the fans to performance and the pump to balance, a little louder but not much. Idled at 27C

I really want everyone to read this quote, as this is several times that its been confirmed that BOTH the 8 pin and the 4 pin cable must be connected.

Agreed, no power at all without the 4 pin connected.
Small disclaimer, when I added the 4 pin connector I pushed every other cable to make sure but none of them clicked or felt loose.
I am still amazed how quiet the new machine is.

You mentioned in another thread that you completed the build? Got a thread with pics? Looking for the "big reveal".

Haha I’ll do it for you. I have all the bling turned off
I’m really liking the Phanteks 600s, great case for me and very quiet.
I’m also really liking the Corsair H115i Pro. Keeps temp where it should be and pretty quiet even with fans set to extreme and pump set to balanced it has noise but the noise is like a rumble, hard to explain but not an annoying noise to my ears.

Real busy tonight & tomorrow. Meeting some friends after Church on Sunday so I’m not sure when I’ll get the pictures

No problem, whenever you feel you can get to them. Not demanding, just requesting. Thought that you might want to show off your new creation. :)

I’m curious about your temps. I don’t know if you remember, but I also have the H115i, and I’m not happy with mine. I have some tim coming tomorrow and plan on replacing the stock Tim.

What temperature are you getting under load? My
go to test has always been to run prime 95 with small ffts. Never saw above the 80s before, but this cpu jumps to 95 almost instantly. I tried setting the pump to extreme using iCUE, but it stays on quiet mode.

I remember you having trouble. I have the version without the light up fans.
My temps with fans on extreme and pump on balance idle are 26-30ish, gaming temps seems to run around 42ish but I haven’t Games much and games I’ve played aren’t too taxing.
I do plan on running prime 95 soon. I’ll update better then.

*temps taken from Ryzen Master.

**you need to load icue from Corsair to change the pump from quiet to balanced or extreme. I can easily see missing how to change the pump speed or assuming the default is balanced

***fan curve for extreme fans runs my fans around 600rpm during web use, little faster for my light gaming

Yes, I used icue to make the changes, however the pump never make a change. My fans do however, (no light on mine either). I have been using HWinfo64 for my temps, but will go back to Ryzen Master if you think it's more accurate.

I know you are pretty smart but I have to say it because I had trouble figuring it out.
In icue select:
Extreme or balanced
Then click on the pump speed
Be careful you don’t click on something else. Icue is sort of weird to use

I can post screen images maybe tonight if needed

Just did it, and now it works. Thanks, because I wouldn't have tried it again.

Haha I’m glad I could help and even more glad I wasn’t the only guy having trouble figuring it out.
As far as I can tell once it’s set it stays set but be careful what you click on.
Also does your pump sound more like a rumble? Hard to explain but the pump makes noise that’s not offensive (to me)

I will have to open my case to hear the pump. I'll do it tomorrow, and post back.

I don't hear anything from my pump, and icue says it going 2820rpm. The fans on the aio are making more noise.
The one on my intel setup was quiet too.

Hello there Fanatical Meat, I am building a 3900x centered system and considering the X570 Steel Legend as the motherboard of my choice. Did you end up with that board along the Ballistix Sport LT 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (BLS2K16G4D32AESB) you were talking about?
I am reading this motherboard is quite picky when it comes to RAM and I wanted to confirm whether they are compatible. If so, did you manage to run them at their advertised speed (3200 MHz) or maybe even higher since these are known to be excellent overclockers?
I was looking to PM you, but apparently as a new member I am not able to, so I hope you get to see this. :)
