Will be mainly used for gaming. Only need MB and memory....oh and a aftermarket HSF.

Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128519
chosen for PRICE...wanted to keep around $100 Also it will be Bulldozer compatible.

HSF http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065

Also need advice for RAM...PC3/DDR3 1600 / 1333 / 1066??? Is 4GB sufficient, or go 8GB???

I am going AMD because I have a AM3 CPU pulled from dead motherboard of another computer. Will be overclocking, so need the after market HSF.

Go for DDR3 1600 (it isn't much more expensive than the slower ones) and 8 GB.

I have to much time to deal with HSF so I can't comment on that.

Thanks for answering the memory question. Not need "advise" really on HSF...looks good enough, and highest rated on newegg for the price I am willing to pay :)

The mobo and HSF look fine. As for RAM, I would go with this G.Skill DDR3 1333 8GB kit, $38 AP.

Hmm...intriguing. Funny how I am always so disgruntled at all the choices to be made by me for RAM :)

It happens EVERY build...lol

Well, with the promo code it knocked it down several bucks from what I WAS going to get.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231277 (2 orders to bring it to 8GB...OR just stick with 4GB for now, and order another set later on)

I somehow like the idea of not all of my slots being filled. (Okay...that's just about enough with the jokes) :D

There's no real reason to get 2x2GB at this point IMHO. If you're really strapped for cash, get 1x4GB for $22. Otherwise, 2x4GB at for $40 is the way to go.

Agreed 100%....added to cart and my total...INCLUDING shipping and tax is $196.66 NOT TOO SHABBY!!! :D Under $200 for whole new build. Next up...replace videocard in signature, but that will be "later" I think it should maybe handle BF3...a little :)

Well, I certainly wouldn't buy one new, but you can't beat free. :)
True enough....neither would I, and to be honest, IF I had the money, and didn't have this CPU, I WOULD go Intel 2500K....but I don't have the money, and I DO have the CPU :)

Okay......now...we have established that I can't beat free, but now the question is this....will this CPU beat the Duo Core E8400 in my sig?

Yeah sounds like a plan. Just sell the X4 on, and use that to finance a platform overhaul to bulldozer/SB.

Pulled the trigger today :) Going to use for a while, and then get the BD CPU.

All I know for 100% sure is that when I had a P4, I couldn't even attempt to play Crysis, and when I went to the C2D, I COULD...and got very good FPS.

So...I'll give this a shot for a while, and see what happens :)

Looks good to me.

I dont know if I made the right choice for the RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231422 for this set up....

Yes, you did.

Thank you :)

As far as the RAM goes, I would like them to have heat spreaders....but really not all that necessary. I bought the 4/8 pin adapter because I don't have an 8 pin cable on my power supply. I am not 100% sure if I NEED it or not, but better safe than sorry. I am excited....should be here by tomorrow!

The 4-pin just plugs into one side of the 8-pin connector on the mobo, no adapter necessary. All the adapter does anyway is split the wires in two, it doesn't give you any extra current capacity.

So I don't need to use all 8-pins of the connector then I take it???

I guess I though I was getting a 4 to 8 pin adapter, so I could plug all 8 in.

That's correct, the socket is keyed such that you can only plug the 4-pin in on one side.

Your 4 to 8 pin adapter will let you plug all 8 in no problem, it just doesn't really help you all that much.

Thank you for the help////I wasn't sure if I NEEDED all 8 pins or not, but since I don't....I am glad the adapter didn't cost all that much :)

Thank you to everyone that helped me in this build. I got everything from the egg yesterday, and will be putting it together over the weekend.

I guess we can safely consider this thread to be closed.

You guys rock...as always, and again....THANK YOU :)
