Up and running :) Just not overclocked...YET! :) Still need to figure out how to do that and doing the research now. Need to update my rig in my signature now :) I would LIKE to be able to get 3.8 like I had with the C2D

The ONLY problem I had was with the aftermarket HSF.....the screws didn't even come within a 1/4 inch of the standofffs they were supposed to screw into....rather a PITA, but I jerry rigged it so it is on.

I think I used WAY too much thermal compound, but temps haven't gone above 30 :)

All in all....I am HAPPY...very happy :) Just now trying to remember what I had on the SDD before the format and reinstall.

Will be mainly used for gaming. Only need MB and memory....oh and a aftermarket HSF.

Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128519
chosen for PRICE...wanted to keep around $100 Also it will be Bulldozer compatible.

HSF http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065

Also need advice for RAM...PC3/DDR3 1600 / 1333 / 1066??? Is 4GB sufficient, or go 8GB???

I am going AMD because I have a AM3 CPU pulled from dead motherboard of another computer. Will be overclocking, so need the after market HSF.
Don't go for AMD. That's a really bad idea and you will have no future. An old AMD will also be an absolute disaster if you're intending on gaming at all.

Depending on your needs.

I'm saying again, going for AMD is going to be a very poor choice for gaming and I beg that you reconsider.

Yah prolly happens alot doesn't it <.< I think I've been late to the rescue like 50 times already.
I don't consider you to be "late to the rescue" at all. I am very happy with my build. Just need to (eventually) get a Bulldozer for CPU, and upgrade my video card (again...EVENTUALLY)

I thank you, however, for your taking the time suggesting builds for me, but as the CPU was FREE to me, my upgrade cost me very little, and again...I am HAPPY with this build.

EDIT to add this.....you said "going for AMD is going to be a very poor choice for gaming and I beg that you reconsider"

In reality, it turns out that I am getting better frames in Black Ops than I was with the C2D, and it runs FLAWLESSLY. At first, I thought it was because I had gotten better at the game, but nope...I still suck at it :)
