It's not worth canceling if you've already put it in, but I would not order it at this point.

Ok their was a good deal on it it was 70 bucks. I Now I feel I have wasted money on the case lol.

Edit: Based on mfenns recommendation I think I will wait until i have the $1000 to buy all parts as once. Thought I could have gotten them part by part but a good point was brung up so I will update this thread soon or just follow a build that has been stickied.

Guys I think I will wait until the new AMD gpu's are out because it seems like it's only 2 months away. By then I will have more than enough money to buy all the parts at once. Thanks for your help and I will be here again soon.

You can, if you want, build the PC sooner than that and just use integrated graphics until you get the dedicated GPU. That way you won't have a Define R4 lying around and you'll be able to use the PC for everything but gaming

Guess I never thought of that when mfenn commented but I canceled the order though. Then again if things are going good as they are now I might increase the budget. I also don't like the idea of publishers being nvidia biased when AMD gpus are just as capable, and that was actually a reasoning why I mentioned the 770. Including this week and the next two I can put a build together even though I just paid a few bills but I think I will wait for AMD to release new gpu's. Never knew the 7970 was almost 2 years old.

Also lehtv do you recommend any nvidia gpu at all?

That's a good point. The GPU is pretty much a modular upgrade that you can stick in at any time. I was thinking of the core system (CPU, RAM, mobo) plus drives and power.

tg2708, well I'm favoring AMD at almost every price segment at the moment. NVIDIA just seems to tax you for a premium price tag for no apparent reason.

When there's 7950 available for $200-210 AR it's very hard to recommend the slightly more expensive and slightly slower GTX 660 Ti, or the even more expensive and similar speed GTX 760. At the next tier, the 7970 for $300 AR is by far a better deal than a GTX 770 for $400. I would not want to pay 33% more for similar performance in most games, and 10-15% better in NVIDIA biased games. So if NVIDIA can get its pricing competitive (or if AMD raises its prices) for those mid-upper range cards, then I'm willing to recommend them.

In the high end, NVIDIA has the lead since AMD's new cards aren't out yet, so for those who want a single high end card now, a GTX 780 is the only realistic option. But it's awful bang for buck, I'd almost recommend getting a half price 7970 instead with an upgrade set for 6-12 months forward.

As for dual GPU solutions, AMD is the better bang for buck (dual 7950's for $400-450 AR, dual 7970's for $600 AR) and the default 3GB VRAM is really nice for 1440p and multimonitor gaming. But despite AMD's recent driver patch, NVIDIA is still the leader in frametimes and playability, so I can understand if enthusiast gamers want dual 2GB 660ti/760 cards for 1080p@120hz or dual 4GB 770's for 1440p@60hz.

In addition to all this, AMD has better game bundle deals, making their cards even better value.

Lehtv, thanks for that reasoning and explanation. But currently I'm looking to get the i5-4670k and the asrock mother board for 294+ tax because I will probably be into sli/crossfire. Would that be a good deal?

Also the deal I missed out on what were your thoughts about it? Think what I'm currently planning on building would have been better? I really think I missed out on something good.

Yep, that's an excellent board. 12 phase digital CPU power, ALC1150 sound, Intel LAN, it's got everything you might need

Which deal are you referring to? The case? Not a big deal

I thought you're waiting two months before building? If that's true then your build isn't planned out yet, it will form in <1 week before purchase

Ok well I think im going to go with that combo then cpu+mobo. And yes the reason it will actually take 2 months rather than the next 3 weeks is because im currently waiting for the new amd gpu's. The deal was with a guy selling a computer for 700, i7 3770k with 660ti gfx card.

So right now I have these in my sights:

Cupu+mobo - i5-4670k with asrock extreme 4 -294+ tax - microcenter.
Case - Not sure
PSU - Not sure
Operating System - Windows 7 - 91 - amazon
Hdd + ssd - Not sure
Graphics Card - Waiting
Monitor - Not sure

OK. I think it's safe to say this thread doesn't really need updating until the new cards are actually out. :)

Ok guys since my aunt will be helping me out make the build happen now. Leave the extra 100 for peripherals. Great deal on the monitor lehtv listed along with the sapphire radeon 7970.

Extra $100 relative to what? Your budget situation has changed so much that I'm having a hard time keeping it straight. Can you state your total budget?

Its gone down to $1200 (to some extent its still 1300 but is needed for other stuff like operating system etc) .
Having her take me to the microcenter to get cpu and mobo combo if time permits.

Going to work now so shoot me the build whenever you have time.

Edit: Getting the 300r case, the mobo+ cpu, and the psu (if anyone can post a good one for crossfire let me now) from the microcenter or anywhere that has a good deal.

Need help with this build as soon as an expert can get to it.

I guess I'll just follow lehtv's previous recommendation.

Edit: Without the psu, ssd and windows 7 or 8 system builder Im looking 1071 with savings from both micro center and newegg. monitor is included in the price.

Asus is definitely better for fast paced games, the high refresh rate really helps. Everything is smoother and it allows you to play without vsync.

If you don't want 27" you can look for VG248QE which is even better as it's 144hz and can do zero motion blur on 120hz. Costs less than U2412M. I'm currently on a BenQ XL2411T which uses the same panel, the zero motion blur thing makes a bit of difference but the refresh rate is still the main thing, I couldn't play Quake or BF3 without it.

Well im going to to get benq then. Also is the seasonic SeaSonic M12II 750 with good carbide 300r?

Edit: Components from newegg has been ordered. Going to the microcenter later to finalize the build and will probably get windows 8 from amazon. Thanks lehtv, mfenn, jaydip and others. Will keep this post updated if i run into any problems

BenQ XL2411T is not available in the US. Asus VG248QE is essentially the same thing.
