There is a lot of current music I like such as Beck, Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead, Sarah McLachlan... but they are all excellent, innovative musicians and songwriters. They are not over-produced, repetitive, formulaic &quot;music&quot; with insipid lyrics.

And saying the &quot;average quality of music has gone up&quot; is just ridiculous. Half the songs that come out now are samples or covers of old songs... and the sad part is, most of the people that like these retreads don't even know there was an original version that was likely much better. I'm not saying that there hasn't always been crappy music, but there was a lot more good music in the 60's and 70's than there is now.

I think the type of music you just stated is repetitive. Songwriters, well, I already said that BSB wrote their songs. Musicians...how is a singer not a musician? So are the singers in bands not musicians? Oh wait they are, so why aren't pop groups? And the new versions of old songs are better than the old ones. sorry. I don't like old music, but you don't see me running around saying that it sucks do you?
