I've been hearing this thing is coming out for the last 10-12 years. I'm not going to get too excited til its actually available.

i cannot believe some of you men saying you wouldn't take it.
It takes two people to have inercourse so why wouldn't you take some responsibility?... especially if there were NO side effects which is very unlike womens BC pill options.

This has been in the works for several years and i asked my gynocologist when it would be available for men, she doubted it would happen anytime soon because so many men feel it is not up to them to take precations like this.

To all of you "men" who are saying you would never take it... you disgust me.
Please tell me your reasons for not waiting to protect you from having a "baby daddy" issue later on down the road.

Seeing as guys have so much to lose if your woman gets pregnant, I would definitely be ok with getting something like this. I'm good friends with a girl (platonic), and he has had all kinds of complications with BC pills. At one point, she got an infection and needed to take antibiotics. Come to find out, the antibiotics she was taking nullified the BC pill. She didn't get pregnant, but just knowing something like that isn't good.

It takes 2 to tango, so both parties should be equally responsible for contraceptives. This whole "it's all on the woman" talk doesn't fly with me.

After they do some more tests on it, I'd definitely take it. And considering what would happen if I didn't remember to take it, I sure as hell would remember.

Ease up... there are condoms.

Guys are understandably concerned about messing with anything in that area of the body.

I agree. Why is it just the woman's responsibility to prevent unplanned pregnancy? If men have to be the parent as well, they should definitely consider this.

[fuel] Because the woman is the only one with a say in whether the baby gets to live? [/fuel]

[fire]

No wonder the woman is the only one with the choice, if men go around not worrying about creating a life [/fire]

Just kidding, your fuel was begging for it. I do realize though that most situations are not in that category, not going to start that war.

n8 :) fully agree !

Btw..then there is a *surprising* number of guys who'd GLADLY go out and get "snipped"...

ANd btw...whoever says BS like "its not up to them..." ? Maybe some 17yo immature idiot...i mean i see them all the time..some couple barely 18/19 with KIDS already..and very often the guy so immature that he cant handle the reponsibility and ran away...OF COURSE they didnt bother about birthcontrol or whatsoever.

But for people in a stable relationship you usually know whether you want kids or not. WTF...saying like "oh..i dont feel like taking precautions like this"..would be same like "i dont care whether my gf/wife gets pregnant".

Not wanting kids ---> no sideeffects (?) ---> perfect BC in my opinion :)

Can't you keep your trolling about religion in threads about religion?

Unfortunately, by the time the trials, side-effects and (more importantly) long-term effects have been established, I would probably have had a vasectomy (or the wife a tubal ligation). And I'm just 21. Pretty sure I will have two kids within the next ten years. And two is more than enough.

If this had been on the market for a few years already, I would be up for it. In a heartbeat.

"immoral sex" :)

Btw...i dont think that the pope, priests, church-leaders and/or religious freaks are even COMPETENT to make statement regarding sexuality, it's morale (or not), or whatsoever.

I cetainly dont need advice regarding BC or sexual practices from some male person who is commited to celebacy...and/or gay and/or is attracted by 10o little boys. I think if i need sexual or relationship advice there are FAR BETTER sources out there :)

That'd be about it. There wouldn't even be any zygote creation going on, so no complaints about "destroying life" either.

I haven't checked the rest of the thread to see if anyone else commented on this but...

That's one of the main reasons they held off bringing it to the public. They fear it will only increase the spread of std's of those men who aren't in long term relationships, going around and infecting everyone.

Doubt it. PharmaCos are in it for the $$$. For what they spend on developing a drug, they try to get it pushed through the FDA as fast as they can so they can recoupe the costs.

PharmaCo certainly isn't going to take on the moral responsibility of withholding a drug just because some people might not wrap it up as a result. They want to make some bank.

I'd be all for this. It's about time men start sharing some of the pill-popping birth controlling responsibilty. Also, it's a peace-of-mind/extra-measure thing for many men that their SO (or a random chick if he's that promiscuous) isn't going to call him up and say she's preggers because she forgot her pill, or they didn't work, or his bag broke, etc... In anycase, it'll probably be a long time before all the clinical trials and whatnot are finished and the drug approved for mass production.

And if studies show that a medicine might be dangerous, the drug companies try to keep it under wraps as long as they think they can without it killing their PR from enough people finding out.

Also, when has a product's danger been a problem for a company when selling the product isn't illegal? Corporations sell cigarettes and alcohol, right? Companies didn't really begin caring about consumer safety until the government started forcing them to.

Something else occurs to me - release a product that encourages the spread of STD's. What do you do? Profit off of increased sales of treatments for said STD's.
