I can't even remember to take my vitamins in the morning. No way I would trust myself to take a contraceptive pill daily.

Which is why I'm SHOCKED my gf remembers hers. I'm like you with the vitamins.

I've been taking an allergy pill daily for years. It doesn't always go down in the morning, but I end up taking it at some point during the day.

As far as my GF tells me, with BC you need to take it with relative regularity. "some point during the day" wouldn't cut the mustard, in this case then.

Yeah you would. You'd remember due to immediate satisfaction. The lost sex of the day would remind you to take it the next.
Taking vitamins doesn't really give you any noticeable results. Maybe a placebo if you're really hyped about them.

As long as there are no side effects. I'd worry about long term effects though.

Yeah, what the hell is the problem. Men are upset about getting women pregnant, or using condoms. Now something comes along that alleviates both problems, but now everyone's all "OMG, no sperm?!!?!! OH NO!!!!"

From what I understand, hearing the phrase, "I'm late" from a girlfriend can cause a good bit of worry, perhaps enough to make you remember something like this.

The reactions in this thread are somewhat disgusting. A potential male contraceptive, possibly without side effects, and the guys are all upset about it. I don't know what more to say other than a simple WTF????
And I still don't get why fertility is so important to people who have no desire to have children. It would be like me being upset about my utter inability to get a fish to properly ride a bicycle while ordering a pizza on a cellphone. If you are unable to do something that you really don't want or need to do anyway, what exactly is the problem?

I agree. Why is it just the woman's responsibility to prevent unplanned pregnancy? If men have to be the parent as well, they should definitely consider this.

PS - Female birth control has just as extreme of side effects, everything from greatly increased chances of cancer, blood clots, migraines, etc... In fact, most women can't just stop taking birth control and instantly get pregnant, for a lot of women it takes a year or so off the pill to be fertile again.

[fuel] Because the woman is the only one with a say in whether the baby gets to live? [/fuel]

I would absolutely take this if it's demonstrated safe. I've been through one unplanned pregnancy, and that was enough for me.

Which is one of the best reasons to take this if you're an unmaried male. ;)

Or a married guy whose wife can't/doesn't take birth control pills.

Pretty old news, I remember reading it on askmen.com a few years ago, before I even joined the forums. Mind you, they've been saying it'll soon be done for a while.

From the results of these studies, Organon, a pharmaceutical company in the Netherlands, has developed a pill that is set to go on the market by 2005. The pill has proven to be 100% effective in preliminary clinical trials.

So I guess it makes you shoot blanks?

Earlier this year researchers working on a hormonal-based male contraceptive said an implant or injection could be available within five years.
Yeah, nothing like a shot to the yarbels to make you lose the old squirter.
The Norplant Implant (women's contraceptive) is placed under the skin in the upper arm. Seems it's not necessary to get anywhere close to below the waist.

This is a different drug. You article talks about a male contraceptive from a different company.

Exactly.

I'd take it.

But look at this way, you'll have a helluva lot more say in whether you want to pay child support for 18+ years for any *oops* that might happen. ;)
