I really hope it still has that "large scale" feel of 1942. Man I had forgotten about the battleships and stuff until you said this - that game really felt really big.

I am glad I am not the only old fart who remembers the sheer expanse of the game. Playing BF1942 and then the Desert Combat mod was the best damn thing ever. It was buggy but so much damned fun!

They've all had that scale. BF2 certainly had it, and I can't imagine they would abandon a core design feature. If they did the game really would be a MW clone, as someone suggested earlier.

I don't know why some people hated SP campaign, I certainly do enjoy them. MOH, COD, et etc etc.

Remember Midway in BF1942? Now that was awesome. i wish they could something similar to that. Maybe like some Somalia pirates vs Allied Surface ships.

Why not demo that aspect of the game then?

What I saw in the clip seems just like CoD to me.

They haven't released any MP footage yet. Like most games, the SP and MP are distinct components - judging the MP based on what we've seen is retarded.

Seriously?

A overscripted gameplay sequence...and your sold?

The A.I. is cleary retarded, most stuff look scripted...and don't get me started on weapons damage...

Did someone pis on your cereal?

No one cares about SP.. well.. a few do, but mostly people buy it for MP action.

They've already said that BF3 will have the largest maps they have ever done. I'm pretty sure they mean the maps for MP because no one ever gave a rat's ass about the single player maps in BF1942 and BF2.

As much as I want BF3 to be good, this thread is exactly what is wrong with gamers. 1 video and half the comments are some mix of "Amazing! Preordered. So bought. This game will be awesome" I mean jesus, hype train is strong in this. Calm down and wait to judge the game when it actually comes out so you all don't get burnt again.

Heh, in my opinion the exact opposite is what is wrong with gamers today. They're all whiny, needy brats who don't appreciate shit.

This might be a dumb question, but does anyone know if BF3 will use BC2's Frostbite physics engine? I think the coolest thing about that game is the constantly evolving battlefield - cover being blown to bits, new craters giving neat places to hide in, etc.

It's supposed to be an evolved version of frostbite

I still throw in BF1942 from time to time, it is such a great game! BF2 was good too, but I preferred the WW2 and Vietnam time period to modern warfare myself. It look's really good and could be a fresh of clean air on the PC platform riddled with 'consolitis' of late. :)

That is the same effect, different side of the coin. Basically they get all hyped up by goddamn videos, their expectations are sky high, then the game is released (which they pre-ordered the 90 dollar collectors edition for) and it doesn't meet their insane expectations so they slam it.

I've done it myself, but I'm becoming smarter. As I try to avoid doing it myself I can't help but notice other people doing it as well.

when its full of bugs and exploits which has been all of them so far

"Full of" might be a bit of an exaggeration. I hope you aren't one of those paranoid gamers that thinks everyone who kills them is a cheater. My friend and I used to make an incredible chopper team in BF2 and we would get called out as cheaters for some of my friends ridiculous 'guided missile' shots. He was damn good at it, much better than me, but he earned that through practice.

Regardless, BF2 never reached Counter-Strike OGC level of hacking/cheating or the shit I've seen from any CoD game, so I don't understand why it's specific MP should get slammed for a problem that has plagued competitive gaming since it existed.
