Alright fellas, I ordered 2 of the 30" LCDs :) Can't wait them to get here! They will be good replacements for these. They are Samsung 17" 171Vs. Anyone want them? I'll put up a FS/FT thread as soon as my dual 30" Apples come home :)

What's on your wall to the left of the desk?

Window, blinds, my things to do list and the heater radiator? What's there to not know?

You guys are pretty damn gullible. If someone told me they ordered two 30" displays for $6600, I'd ask for pics of their current digs.

Right now, looking at this picture provided by Xiety, he looks to be living in a bare residence resembling my old college apartment.

Hmm, do you at least know the title of the thread? You cant just accuse someone like that and not provide proof.

The title of this thread is "New Apple Cinema Displays."

And the burden of proof is on Xiety. What do you think would happen if I started a thread about the new Lamborghini I bought (it's being delivered in a week, wink wink), and I showed you a picture of my middle-class 2-car garage with the Accord "I'm replacing"?

Hey watch it now, when I bought these Samsungs, I paid over $900 for each  :) :p Oh well, you can search all Mac Forums as long as you want dude, or hire a private dedective :p Besides, why assume I will go to a Mac Forum and jack an Apple customer's receipt when I have better stuff to do? Also, in about a year, I am going to be moving after graduation, that's why I live in an apartment :)

if you really did buy them you should cancel

you can get them for $3000 each if you go thru apple's education store

Well, that's a big difference. Most people on AT could afford 2 of these 30" displays.... But we don't value them THAT much. Most of us, sadly, cannot afford Lamborghinis. Also, judging him by his place isn't really fair, some people have fantastic homes and crappy cars, some people have crappy homes and fantastic cars.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, simply because he's a diamond member. Can't wait to see those puppies.

There is a big difference between being able to pay for something and being able to afford it. Yes I could quite easily BUY 2 or even 3 of those, but it would mean living off hot dogs and water from the next door neighbors for 6 months.

What job do you have, Xiety, that allows you to put down $6800 US for computer LCDs?

I would hook it into the DVI conector on the side of my notebook. I couldn't, of course, use the 30 incher, but 23 inches is good enough for me :D

Most ATers could afford it even... but it borders on lunacy. That's just SUCH a luxury good, and two of them? I don't even think I'd consider buying one. But I'm big on squirreling money away.

Xiety, you really should go through the Apple Education thing if you're in school, you'll save yourself a bundle of cash. I'd say that would be the true test as to whether he's fibbing or not. If he doesn't change it, he's obviously lying, if he does, then he isn't.

The 23" looks nice. Didn't fancy the 23" of the old Apple displays though. Would not fit becuase of the height under my Uni desk.

I got a Sony 23", very nice. It is big on my desk but my desk (now at home) fit's it well.

Xiety 2 of those 30" would be SICK. Man can't imagine having 2x 30" on my desk!

But would be sweet if we get pics of your setup :D

So is officially shens since Xiety could have bought these at edu pricing, and would no doubt need the nVidia 6800 DLL video card too?

Otherwise, he'll have to wash himself once he craps his pants after setting up these displays. :D

Plus he'd have to have a Mac.

No. Again, all he needs is a dual-link DVI card. For instance, the nVidia Quadro FX4000, FX3000G, FX3000, and FX3400 all have dual-link DVI. The FX3000G even has Framelock and Genlock. 3Dlabs has has another 5 cards that have dual-link DVI, and have for ages now.

I seem to recall he owns a Power Mac G5.
