New American Chopper: Senior vs Junior tonight

I thought the foreclosure thing was just a tactic OCC used to get a lower interest rate on their loan for the building that was being foreclosed upon.

I never heard of any liquidation of assets. Where did you hear that?

I believe that was his plan, but uh renegotiating when you have the ability to pay doesn't look good and usually doesn't work out. It appears OCC is trying to walk away from their $12.5million mortgage. I won't work out well for them, they aren't big enough or have enough assets to pull it off. Strategically defaulting and walking away from their albatross will bankrupt them.

Also, what I believe someone called liquidation of assets is when Sr. sold off a good portion of his personal motorcycle/car collection.

Corrolary Plan: Separate Jr from Sr's business, and therefore Sr's Debt load.

Yeah - I could see any good father doing that for his son in a heartbeat.

Both businesses rely on the show. OCC only continues to exist because of corporate bikes builds as their $30,000 "custom" off the shelf chopper business more or less flopped and it wasn't because of the recession, they built their albatross and expanded knowing they had poor sales even before the recession. Sr. and his business partners do no know how to run a buisness as evidence of their past shenanigans. As for Jr, his company only does corporate bike builds. Without the show both companies fold.

Looks like they are making more $$$ doing those episodes than actually making a profit on the bikes they built. I'll bet you there are better custom chopper/bike builders you've never heard from.

I've seen some accounts of OCC bikes being functionally and technically unsound. They get around the hack label by calling these showroom or theme bikes built for corporations, and therefore not meant to be ridden. Reality TV is funny that way.

I was kinda surprised to hear the Rick lives in PA and has quite a commute.

Seems like they're playing up next weeks episode like Rick is going to leave OCC and go over to PJD but I say it's a crock of shit that's just cut to make it look like that.

That Gears of War 3 trike that Jr. is building is pretty damn sweet though.

OCC just doesn't have it in them to come up with shit like that anymore.

I can't beleive I forgot it was on Monday. Oh, football distracted me. Dang it!

Any repeat planned before next week? Even if before next weeks new episode.

The funny thing to me is that the new big building OCC built is not affordable. Last year, they made it sound liek the forclosure was just part of some "commonly used ploy" to get the lender to agree to new terms that favor OCC such as a lower interest rate. And even more shoking, they kept hte old building on the books as an unused building.

nwo they have to sell both buildings and find a properly sized building.

What morons. And yes, those theme bikes are made to look cool. Many are not meant to go down the road. I'm sure they are functional and rideable. Probably uncomfromtable though.

IMHO his work after the split has been good and improving.

Always seemed to me he was the creative genius but his dad had the business background....even avoiding paying bills "creatively" like many business do.

I've also followed this show from the beginning and it's been a shame, but informative, to watch a family self-destruct.

I thought the Fist bike was a freaking grand slam. I agree that Jr's creativity is unmatched by anyone at OCC. Jason P's designs all run together and usually rely far too much on branding/logos to distinguish one build from another.

Generally speaking I think Sr. is a complete jackass who is catastrophically blind to the consequences of his words and actions. But to be perfectly fair, Jr.'s work ethic sky-rocketed the moment he was out on his own. Sr's expectations and demands were too high, but if Jr had this work ethic while working at OCC he and his dad would still be burying their real problems.

At the end of the day, the only three sons of Sr that we hear from have written him off and refuse to speak to him. Amazing that little tidbit hasn't caused more introspection by Sr.

Yep.

This thought has occurred to me and many others.

He must be rationalizing this somehow because IMHO he's too intelligent not to see it. Maybe not?

AAR, it's a bummer.

Have you seen the handlebars on these things? An untimely bump -> you're a corpse.

Like someone else said, most builds are just theme bikes commissioned for the purpose of sitting in a lobby, raising charity money, and the hour of advertising they get on the show during the build.

There's a reason their street business never took off: you can buy a much more sound bike for $30k and you're not going to get your ass kicked for schlepping up to Bike Night in a dumbed down OCC theme bike.

When this show ends both businesses are finished.

It's a fun show to watch for the family dynamic, not really interested in the work they do. It is clear that neither of them spend their money wisely. I agree that when the show is over, they are both done for and because they are idiots with their money bankruptcy is in their futures.

I think its more because they completely rely on the advertising bikes for their money. I've watched the show since the very beginning and it seems like they always overvalued the popularity of their production bikes. I doubt that Sr. will really care when OCC goes into bankruptcy though, he is extremely well off at this point and probably of retirement age. Jr., on the other hand may need to figure something else out, but at his current rate he could probably make do only selling a few theme bikes a year.

At one point he gave his rationalization. he is responsible for 50 emplyoees (when he said this) and that means he is responsible for 50 families. Because of that pressure, he tends to put his family second.

He sold his 20% ownership off. He has a but load of cash and if he does not use it wisely (like startign a company and basically paying employee's out of his own pocket), he is screwed.

Just watched the recent episode. Agree, that new trike is awesome. Everything OCC does is just a the same damned motorcycle with a custom tank and custom paint job.

I like PJ stuff alot better than OCC's...I am gald that they split and Paul Jr is on his own...better bike builder/designer IMO

Looks like Discovery cancelled production of American Chopper after ten seasons. Though I can see the show getting once again reincarnated due to viewer demand, or maybe Junior gets his own PJD show. 🙂

Havn't seen this show in forever. But I did see the bikes they made for their latest 'build-off' thing.

Jesse James and the engineer guy from OCC made some pretty awesome shit. PJD and whoever the hell greasemonkey garage is, notsomuch.

I liked all the build-off bikes. Though if I were to rate them best to last: Jesse James, OCC, Jr., Greasemonkey.

The bike OCC machined was truly beautiful. Jesse's though was just outrageous. Jr's bike was nice, but Jesse & OCC were simply two-notches above him.

Last build-off, I though Jr. rightfully won, then Jesse, and way last was OCC.

Call me weird, but I kinda liked the flame throwing snowmobile thing that OCC built last season. It wasn't a motorcycle, but it was pretty damn cool 🙂
