Looks really cool. Remember the Alien vs. Predator SNES game? that was sweet :D

I'm confused though....why are they on earth and why is it underground?

Hopefully this will be better than the Freddy vs. Jason movie. Another long awaited, over hyped movie that didnt live up to expectations. They probably wont have a definative victor so that they can leave it open for a sequel. LAME

Event Horizon wasn't that bad. Hopefully the guy has learned from his mistakes though.

WTF??? Whens this take place. I mean wouldnt you think the humans would have super weapons and stuff. I mean pending this is made after Aliens 2 and Aliens Resurection. Also dont you think after years of studying the aliens the humans would finally get it right and not f up this time.

Where did the whole idea of Aliens versus Predators start? I'm curious and I never found out why.

The animated novels (which are quite good actually). The Predator species operates out of Hunt ships, each containing a Alien queen in captivity who just cranks out the eggs. The eggs are then sent down to a planet with indigenous life - after awhile the Predators come down and the hunt is on. Supposedly the Alien species is considered the most worthy of prey.

Animated novels? What the heck are these? Do you mean the Dark Horse graphic novels née comic books? And the novelizations of those comics?

I've already got a bad feeling about this movie. The creators didn't really do their homework...predators hunt in hot, humid environments because they don't like the cold. Of all locations to have this movie take place, the creators thought it was a good idea to set it in Antarctica. Another thing is the timeline...modern day is BORING. They should have done it like in the comics/novels and set it in the future (sort of like during the Aliens movie). Aliens vs Predators vs Space Marines would have been great.

Moreover, in teh original Alien and Predator movies a lot of the suspense and thrill came from not seeing the Alien/Predator... I feel that in AvP it'll be a lot of animation, which maybe great, will take away from the feel of the movie. I'm definately going to go see it, but I can almost guarantee myself that I will still think the original Alien and Predator (just the first oen) films were much better.

There's hardly any CG. They made it a point to use the same technology (albeit enhanced) that was used in the original Predator and Aliens - so all the baddies are actually dudes in suits.

The movie is also set somewhat in the future . . . Lance Hendrikson plays Charles Weyland, CEO of Weyland-Yutani (referred to as "The Company") in the Alien pictures. One of the people in the scouting party may or may not be an android a la Bishop according to rumors.

Interesting. I think this was pointed out in a different thread, but it's odd that the writers chose Antarctica to set the movie, since it was esablished that Predators are only found in hot areas.

Although I'm not expecting it like the originals, I hope the movie stands on its own. Like T3 did... it was nohting like the T1&T2 films, but it was still pretty good in a different sense.
