My grandma has problems with her eyes. She uses a debit card. Much easier for her.

both my parents use cash all the time. not really sure why.

I hardly ever use cash...in fact, the only time I use it is at fast food joints. My CC handles everything else. Money is overrated ;)

Not if you don't want your purchases tracked. ;)

I actually LIKE to track my purschases. Makes it easier to manage my money and my inflows/outflows with MS Money. Easier to budget as well. Cash is just burdensome sp?

I meant tracked by someone other than yourself.

I know what you meant.

But I'm not as paranoid as the rest of you Matrix-induced freaks ;)

heh heh

For the last few months I've had no bank card (the wondrous result of months of unemployment) so I've been using cash for everything. I find I tend to spend money less as I don't like letting money go out of my wallet. It's much easier to spend when it's electronic.

Before that, I rarely used cash...only for vending machines at work or the odd visit to a parking garage where I didn't normally park (and, thus, couldn't use my monthly parking card)

Well, I only make purchases that I can cover with my bank account so I don't fall into the "trap." I pay my balance in full at the end of each month so I don't worry too much about going bezerk.

At some point in the future, we'll be using electronic money. Just look at how many people use credit cards/ debit cards/ online banking now. Heck, I went for 4 months without touching a single real bill while at school.

As long as the electronic device that keeps track of your funds isn't embedded in your right hand or forehead, I don't really care. ;)

Heh, nobody picked up that reference and yelled at you for being a paranoid religious right winger. So I will! j/k I'm with you on that. I'm all good with electronic money as long as it stays as a card in my wallet.

saw that on the news last night, i laughed when they said it would be in circulation in the fall. This will be a repeat of the $1 coin, everyone will keep it.

I don't have a $1 coin.

The 1$ gold coins are actually quite handy for people who, say, take the bus all the time.

Portland doesn't have an option to pay by tranist cards??? :Q

I don't like the gradient, but otherwise its nice. The new Canadian bills are still better than both the Euro and the USD though, sorry.

Better?? This isn't some damn beauty contest. It's MONEY!!!!! It really doen't matter WHAT it looks like when it comes down to it
You can recognize the amount of a Canadian bill by the colour.

eg. Red is a 50, green is a 20. Less chance of giving somebody the wrong bill by accident.

If you're so busy/rushed/incapacitated that you can't tell 1 from 5 from 10 from 20 then you don't need to be carrying around money.
What the hell do you have against coloured money?
