So sad ...

What's far more pathetic is you taking that seriously 😉

Don't get offended, he just doesn't know the joys of cooking 😉

I've been using these Silverstone Ultra frypans with a lot of luck the past few years, but I'm getting ready to make the jump to cast iron.

Those look pretty good

I don't have any problem justifying this little beauty to myself or the better half, they're a joy to cook with, and properly maintained will last many lifetimes 😉

Doing the initial seasoning/sealing now, then I think some fillet steak will become the christening meal 🙂

Bacon it shall be!
BACON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apologies 😱

It was fillet steak. It was fantastic.

After only two seasoning/sealing cycles I barely had to wipe it it clean it. I sense a long and passionate love affair with this pan

You probably could have gotten a Lodge cast iron skillet for a lot less. Properly maintained, they'll last your entire lineage's lifetime.

I wanted this one 😉

I thought in autrailia they just dug a hole out back, crapped in it, threw a kangaroo carcass in it and then set the whole mess on fire.

Is the pan to kill the kangaroo?

Congrats!

Cheers 🙂

Dare I ask what colour? 😉

I have it in cobalt. Just a beautiful pan and I love that I can fire this one right into the oven without a problem. I use it all the time.

I'd never picked you as the trolling type before.

EDIT: Before you start kicking and screaming about how something infinitely cheaper is infinitely better, I don't care 😉

Get this into your head: It's superb to cook with, and it will last forever. I can afford it now, and spread over my lifetime the cost difference is completely and utterly negligible. They even look great, and a splash of colour livens up the kitchen 🙂

One argument that always makes me roar with laughter is 'if you really love food you'll get x (usually lodge) and put the rest towards better ingredients'

As though there's any meaningful difference over any real period of time 😛

I don't really know what makes these pans (or any pans short of something that is non-stick so I don't get all angry) special.

But I'm glad your happy with it. =p

i have two lodge pans and a lodge dutch oven. i never cooked bacon on it because we don't ever eat it. but i did rub lard all over and baked it in the oven for a few hours in 300*. i fry spam in it every now and then and its held up pretty good. the only difference is the le creuset is coated in enamel right?
