Alright, I'll try to explain this as best as I can.
A couple of weeks ago, I got a notebook computer. I also have a desktop computer. Knowing that I would be getting cable Internet soon after getting the notebook, I went ahead and got a wireless router. So I networked the two computers for file and printer sharing. I had no troubles doing that. Both computers are running Windows XP with SP2. The notebook has a built-in Wi-Fi.
But yesterday, I got the cable connection. I then repositioned the cables so that the desktop was connected to the Internet through the router. That worked fine. I'm also able to access the Internet through the notebook with no troubles. But now, the two computers aren't networked. So I can't access files share the printer on the two computers.
I've tried setting up a new network for file sharing about 5 times now. What could be the problem? I tried finding some sort of guide for having this particular type of network setup, but I couldn't come up with anything. It's not an uncommon configuration, so maybe someone here can either help me directly or point me in the right direction.
