This happen to me all the time with dvds.

That is why there is only one way to go where there is almost a 100% guarantee you will have no dvd or blu ray cracks or scratches. You don't have to worry about them not having enough in stock either.
 
Just a way to increase revenues. A majority of people will think "eh, just a couple bucks." Blu-Ray doesn't cost that much more than DVD and has a longer lifespan.
