It is, but your power base is 1 too high and you seem to be reading from left to right.

00 = 0 + 0
01 = 0 + 2^0 = 0 + 1 = 1
10 = 2^1 + 0 = 2 + 0 = 2
11 = 2^1 + 2^0 = 2 + 1 = 3

You turn in your english card! Equations do not terminate themselves with punctuation marks, such as periods. Even within the confines of a sentence, there should not be a period after the first 50%. However, if you really insist that your sentence ends there, then you didn't capitalize the i in "instead". You also need to know that contractions have apostrophies in them. You must type "It's" when using the contraction for "It is", you cannot use "Its" to begin this sentence. Furthermore, you lose points for improper spacing while typing the equations you used as examples. "0.5*100% = 50%." should be typed like this: "0.5 * 100% = 50%". I can be picky also.

However, I disagree with your bold part. Equations should end with punctuation marks. So yes, I should have capitalized "instead". Which of the three following paragraph portions is better?

Option 1:
Start with the equation, y = 2 * x. We can reasonably estimate that x ~= 2. Therefore, y ~=4.

Option 2:
Start with the equation, y = 2 * x We can reasonably estimate that x ~=2 Therefore, y~=4

Option 3:
Start with the equation, y = 2 * x we can reasonably estimate that x ~=2 therefore, y~=4

Option 1 is the only option that is legible to me. That is especially true if the equations are in long, complex sentences.
