RIP Mr. Mandela

I work at a store, and a 20 something Asian guy came in and saw I had CNN on and asked why they were making a big deal over him dying. I said do you even know who Mandela is? He said

"Not really, but yeah I've heard of him"
"He was one of the greatest men ever" <- me
"I don't see the big deal here, it's not like he was Paul Walker"

And he proceeded to get into a 2 minute conversation with another customer about TFAF movies. Part of me wanted to punch him in the face and part of me wanted to cry because this is how a lot of the younger generation thinks.
 
How soon before Obama compares himself to Mandela?

Look I don't want to be seen as a troll or as a thread crapper here.

Many people compare Nelson Mandela or Martin Luther King to Gandhi everywhere. But I will say that such a comparison is very unfair to Mandela or King.

Gandhi was not the first proponent of non violence (ahimsa) and he won't be the last, especially in terms of Human tradition.

In fact, Mr Mandela or Mr King are gems by their own right. Please do not compare these two princes to Mr. Gandhi, you will be doing a disservice to them both.

Though Mr. Gandhi is my fellow Indian, I must admit he is still lesser than Mr Mandela or Mr King. Since my record of realization surpasses the scope of this thread, I will not voice my reasons why Mr. Gandhi doesn't deserve the title of the apostle of non violence. Let it be an another story for another time.

RIP Mr Mandela, you are and will be a great leader by your own right as well as Mr. King.

RIP Mr. Mandela, you are a true son of this Mother Earth Gaia and by your deeds you are immortal forever. 🙂

so you wanted to punch him in the face for voicing his own opinion? clearly Mandela's teachings had no effect on you.

Now since he was leader in 94 things have not improved in South Africa and that country is going backwards. South Africa ranks 132nd out of 144 countries for its primary education and 143rd in science and maths. The gap between the rich and poor is one of the biggest for a country. Corruption is ramped in that government.

Nelson Mandelais was a great humanitarian but as leader of South Africa he was a failure.
