Interesting. When is it we're going to see them available on shelves, though? I'm thinking about a refresh of my Conroe system in November-time or so, so I wonder if the hype and price gouging will be slightly dissipated by then.

I understand because of NDAs and such they couldn't get into any benchmarks or performance info, but without any information other than some photos of the mobo, this report is pretty useless and seems designed to attract attention to the site.

Agreed - we already knew all of this, and there had been leaked pictures before. Here is the one useful tidbit contained in the article:

"The best performance bump was going from single to dual-channel but going from dual to triple didn?t seem to pay the same dividends. (...) Our test, in fact, was with the DDR3 at 1333 speeds."

One interesting piece was on the "overclocking" features. I think the author was referring to the OCing of individual cores, which is noteworthy.....

Its about time Intel stopped using dinky little HSFs! I think the physical size of the chip means a larger HSF was inevitable anyway.

I doubt Nehalem will run that hot, hotter than Penryn but cooler than Kentsfield is my guess. Its actually superior in performance/watt compared to Penryn according to the Anandtech preview.

Not that it realy matters as there are no benchys but they said in the articel that it was a 2.93 GHz Bloomfield but the screenshot shows it as a 2.66. Any news at all as to when the Nehaelms will be on sale?

At least he has the edge over many of us and when it is time I am sure Aigo will have plenty to say AND will be able to advise as "we" start adopting nehalem as "our" new rigs.
So, really, to me its fun and frustrating at the same time as I really would love to know what Aigo knows...........

lol looks like the stock HSF blocks the 4th DIMM slot. hope they fix that before launch in the event that my Vendetta 2 doesnt fit on the new socket

if you're buying a bloomfield and using the stock hsf then you need to have your head examined. drop $50 or so on a tuniq v2.0 or noctua 2.0 or whatever.

@aigo and dmens: at least you guys get stuff from the winning team. I'm gonna guess that most amd guys (at least on the cpu side) aren't too excited right now...
