NEED TO OVERCLOCK MY A64 3500 WINNIE

Well,

I have a year old pc. I'd like to upgrade, but thats just not possible at this time. So i've got to thinking about just boosting performance a bit. Overclocking seemed like the perfect answer.(most everything I bought was originally meant to be overclocked anyhow, just never got to it)

I already oc'd my Video card...wish this was as simple :p

So now onto my CPU.

Here's what I have:

Motherboard: MSI K8T Neo2 F (model MS-6702E) picture
Processor: Winchester 939 AMD 64 3500+
RAM: Crucial BallistiX pc 3200, 2 sticks of 512mb picture
Cooling: Zalman CNPS7700-Cu Picture

Now I've tried reading the guides and quite frankly, I'm just not grasping it...I understand where/how to change everything, but I don't understand WHAT to change and the values that they need to be changed to.

I'm not looking to push this baby as far as it can go, but I'd like to see it at around 2.6ghz. So please, someone give me the information I need to complete this :D Your help will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Winchesters are pretty good overclockers. My Winnie does 2430 MHz at default voltage. It's a 3000+ (stock 1800 MHz). I could run at that speed with the stock cooler with good temps. I got the Sonic Tower because it's silent. However, it MUST be said that not all processors OC the same. You might only get 2.3 GHz out of it, or you might get 2.7 Ghz.

Click on THIS link and read about the k8t neo2-fir to get some tips for ocing with your board. I know it's not the exact same, but they are very similar (I think they can even use the same BIOS). Good luck!

I have a winnie 3200+ in my second rig, it will do 289x9+2601 with 1.55v but it won't do 260x10. For some reason mine clocks better with the 9x multi.

If anybody wants to like actually help walk me through this...I could give you like money over paypal or something. Like I said, I really want to OC this, but I can't afford to have anything go wrong.

Any help someone could give me is awesome.

I'll download the manual, give it a read, and see if I can help you out. In the meantime, you should make a backup (if possible) of your hard drive. I've many times had to re-install windows because some files would get corrupted from playing around. Or if you have a spare drive, do a fresh install on that one and take your 'main' drive out.

runing my 3000+winnie at 1.45v and can only muster 2.25Ghz prime stable... i can run 2.35 GHz game stable and at 2.36 i get random reboots.... but even at 2.36 my max temps never broke 50*C everyone has said that the winnie is a crappy chip for oc'ing but i think that its really just a normal chip that happens to have a few good ones....

and i think that any oc is a good oc!!!
