Hi I need the BEST PSU in terms of quality vs. price that has a 24-pin connector (ATX 2.0) and can power a 6600GT, a64 3000 rig. Thank you.

Antec cases are special because they come with PSUs that aren't crap. Antec PSUs aren't really that special themselves, though, if you're buying a PSU separately.

I can't see where an Antec PSU would be any better than a Fortron or that XClio that everybody loves. I have a feeling the price on those will be going up seeing as NewEgg can't keep them in stock at $50.

That Antec TP2-380 does have a strong 12V1, though, making it pretty good for a system with a 6800GT. This thread makes me a little suspicious of Antec TruePower PSUs being as strong as they say they are, though:

Question about that XClio, will it run 2 HDD, 1 CD Drive, 1 DVD Drive, an A64 3200+ and a 6800 GT?

I put in another vote for the Antec True Power II. i've always found thats the Antec power supplies are reliable and their support is pretty good.

They probably are the best thing, though, if you've got a big window on your case and want something pretty.

The 450W XClio will run the system quoted, stably.

The weakest rail on newer systems is going to be 12V1. 2 hard drives will need a max of 5A on 12V1 to spin up, but less than 2A when in operation. 1 DVD drive will need a max of about 1A on 12V1 when in operation. Your video card will need less than 4A on 12V1, and it certainly won't be drawing this much at the same time as the hard drives are spinning up. The Prescott 3.8 GHz uses less than 10A on 12V2, so you don't have to worry about the CPU with any decent PSU.

Decent PSUs will have 10 or more amps on 12V1, and your system isn't going to draw more than 8A at the same time. I'd still probably get something with 14A on 12V1, though, just in case you add a bunch of stuff.

Anyway, the XClio would be fine.
