I am going tomorrow to test drive a 92 loaded Camry. I just need a car to get to university next year, so there isn't use in getting anything better.

Anyway it is a 45 minute drive to campus and without a decent sound system I think I will go insane.

I have some free songs from allmp3.com and some one cent songs so... Please recommend some songs that truly test the limits of the speakers. (Preferably with no swares as I will be going with my dad).

I am looking for clarity > bass, but bass is always nice to have in a song as well.

LOL, not because I like it much. It just has a wide range of instruments in the background, bass. It makes my 2.1 speakers sound like crap, but on my 5.1 5300's it sounds a lot better.

EDIT: Took out Nelly for you

92... Was that the body change yet? Its still the box, right? Is it still running on stock speakers?

If so, don't bother testing it, just test it with the radio to see if its still working. THen, spend maybe 2-300 on a new receiver and speakers. Maybe a pioneer 4600 and a set of infinity references.

Still the box, but it was a luxury edition. It has power everything and has a cd player (not sure if it is stock or not). I have a friend who works at advance electronics so I can get stuff at cost, but if stock is decent I won't change anything.

There's a bass test CD by Bass Brothers I think. Titled Illegal Bass. I used it to test my brother's 1000W 3 15" MTX setup. It shook my private parts from 10 feet outside the car

Edit: Nope, it's not Bass Brothers, it's "Bass Outlaws". So sayeth the Google.

Bone - Uncle Charlie (edited version) I used to use this (test range 10hz up to 26Khz) when I was building competion systems in college to make money.

oh yeah...my recommendation? dead prez - hip hop. adjust the bass levels accordingly. ;)

I used bella fleck for clarity, you will need a real cd (not burned music) if you want the best sq.

Being a 92 I doubt it will have "private parts" shaking bass. And I am not really worried about that. I am looking more for songs that will test the clarity of the speakers.

Thanks tho!

ROFL at you "testing the stereo" in a 92 Camry. Here's your testing:

1) Put a CD in
2) See if it plays
3) Done

- M4H

Most likely thats what will happen. I am not expecting amazing speakers. Just ones that don't fuzz out on me when the song goes really high or low.

uh.....

any decently designed car should have speakers that dont fuzz out on high, or low frequencies, they just shouldnt play them.

i agree with M4H's idea. do that and be happy. and then just throw in some aftermarket speakers and it should be much better than you would currently have.

btw: screw expecting a decent speaker system, and btw, your 5.1's still have nothing on a nice system, although thats what youve had as a benchmark so whatever heh.

The car is 13 years old, so one of the speakers could have been damaged in that time or somthing. I just wanted songs what would expose this. I agree my 5.1's still suck compared to nice car systems or better comptuer speakers. But the clarity is more than enough for me.

if you just want to test that, try like a mozart cd or something, that would expose anything and everything.

Um...this might be more than what you're looking for but these are what I've always used to test SQ systems

Vivaldi - 4 Seasons (The violins a few minutes into the song are as piercing as any music you'll ever listen to)
Nelly Furtado - Baby Girl (Female vocals and lots of the different types of drums you'll here)
Lil Jon - Bia Bia (nsfDad but used to test bass extension)

Also good are: Trans Siberian Orchestra, Dire Straits, and Dream Theater

Sarah Brightman and Evanescence maybe for the female vocals...

This is popular this time of the year in the Northern states.

EDIT: Might want to make sure the HEATER works too! :p

Cheers!
