Need some updated SETI WU times for the FAQ page...

I was updating some of the SETI FAQ pages today (which was a WAY overdue process, I apologize), and I noticed the FAQ on WU times still has numbers from the 2.x clients. I put a disclaimer on there for now, but I was hoping people could look through their SETILog stats and give me some "average" WU times for a wide range and type of processors. I'd like to have all the major CPU types (Athlon, P3, P4, K6, Alpha, Sparc, etc) covered, as well as a decent range in each (for instance, a P3-450 and a P3-1000 and ...)

Also, there are two glaring omissions from the FAQ page. Namely, OrangeKid's team SETIQueue and instructions on setting up your own SETIQueue. I'll try and bang something out on these in the next couple of days, but if someone else already has something like this written somewhere that I'm not aware of (and is willing to donate to the team FAQ), please let me know. Don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to! :)

here's stats on my work (POS) computer:
Pentium II 333 NT4 SP4
32kb L1 cache, 512kb L2 cache

I've only completed two work units here, but here's the stats I have so far: (I do most of my crunching on my home PC.)

Work unit times are 16.543 and 16.676 in hours, and I usually average around 3.9 or so CpF.

As you can tell, this system blows. I'll try to post info on my Athlon system (1GHz OCd @ 1230MHz) later today when I go home.

Ok, just went through my SetiQ history. Have lots of different work machines that are all gateways. All times are CLI, except where noted. All on Win98SE. Here they are by CPU:

Gateways:
1.3 Ghz P4 (pc800 ram) = 5:35
1.0 Ghz Athlon = roughly 7 hrs
1.0 Ghz Athlon (Gui client)=8-9 hrs
933 mhz P3 = 7:47
800 mhz p3 = 9-10 hrs
500 mhz p3 = 12-13 hrs
450 mhz p2 (gui client) = 15:35-16:20
400 mhz p2 = 13-14 hrs

Home built computers:
1159 mhz athlon (145 fsb) = 5.5-6 hrs
980 mhz athlon (200 fsb cpu, 133 ram) = 6:45
450 mhz k6-3 = 20hrs
266 mhz (66 fsb)P2 laptop = 20 hrs

I included the home builts because the ones I build do considerably better than the OEMs my workplace purchases. Notice the difference the FSB makes on the Athlons. The slower clock Athlon at 145 fsb, runs times sometimes as low as the P4 average. But I actually use the Athlon, The user that gets the P4 will be using it this month so it will no longer sit in my office doing nothing but seti. At that point I expect the 1.3 ghz P4 to turn in similar or slower average times than my 1159 Athlon. Hope that helps.

well my puter has done:
83 works units
in
1050hrs 23mins 31.2secs

which is an average of:

about 12hrs 40 mins per work unit

System:

Duron 700 (7 x 100)
128MB Crucial PC133 ram
Abit KT7 mobo

which is slightly better than the 23hrs my old 233 took!!

Celeron 433

I'd say about 16+ hours/WU 3.03 CLI running 24/7 while machine is being used.

I've been working waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to much lately but will try to update the SetiQ FAQ.

I've got two comps in parts yet that need to be reassembled first and some catch up work on the stats yet, then maybe??????????????

EDIT__________
If anyone wants to put something together and send it to myself or AVG it can be added to the hobbit site.........FAQ's.........times in a table maybe? Sorry people, summers are rough on me, not enough hours in a day.

Here is more SETI WU information taken from SETISPY logs for about 12 days on the dual Xeon and 33 days on the Compaq:

Dual PIII 700mhz XEON 2M cache, 1G memory WIn2KPro:

SETI Instance #1
........Teraflops...Hours to Complete
AVG......3.98.......5.86
Max.......4.11.......7.25
Min........3.33.......4.50

SETI Instance #2
........Teraflops...Hours to Complete
AVG......4.06.......5.72
Max.......4.11.......5.87
Min........3.33.......4.52

Not quite as good as SETIPSPY first noted, but still not bad especially when compared to:

Compaq PIII733, 256M RAM WIN95
........Teraflops...Hours to Complete
AVG......3.98.......10.01
Max.......4.20.......13.64
Min........3.33........8.00

Iwill KK266-R
Athlon 1.2ghz@1.4ghz 165mhz FSB
512mb Crucial PC133

I am completing my work units @ a rate of 4hrs/wu, with a worst of 4hr15min when heavily using the PC. I am in the process of building a new DDR Athlon setup with a new stepping Athlon that should hit 1.6ghz-1.7ghz..:)

bump -
people, add some info here! It would be nice to have a full featured page with late model procs / systems to point folks to as they ask questions like:
What seti times can I expect from my _inser cpu type here_?

Right now I have a pretty good selection of x86 processors listed on the FAQ page. However, I haven't gotten any data on Sparc, Alpha, etc processors... So if any of you out there have such info, send it my way!

Poof owns an old Alpha I believe.

ColinP runs SETI on a lot of Sparcs.

See if they can get you any WU times. :)

Hey, did your power go out last night? Mine went out about 3 times, for around 5 seconds each time. I'm glad I got those UPS's installed for my C433. :D

What's a single CPU WU time on that computer? It sounds too slow even for a dual...the PII 400's I used to run took 12-13 hours/WU, and Poof's PII 400 MHz Xeon 1 MB is about 11 hours/WU.

JHutch, are you updating the seti faqs?
How about the addition of seti driver so all processors of a Multi Proc machine can be more easily used and work units can be cached? Use of this prog and setispy seem to be a pretty common topic in the forum.
