I would use the magic wond tool for selection, and adjust the tolarance level of the magic wond accordinly. If you really wanted to be accurate, you would have to make the selection by using the line draw tools. Once you make the selection you can overlap it with anything you want. I like to create a new layer from selection just in case I screw up.

Edit, oh, once you completed outlining the selection, I believe you have enter the edit menu or image menu and select "Make Selection" . Sorry I'm at work, don't have PS on hand.

Magic wand and layer, huh? So (excuse my ignorance) are you saying to basically draw around the logo, crop it, then drop that cropped piece (the logo) onto a black background? How would i center the logo on the black background? Thanks, Regs.

No, you would have to select everything but the logo. You draw a "marquee" around the background but exclude the image.

How about the paint bucket? You can do that in MS Paint. You don't need photoshop. Additionally, if you're asking how to do this and have Photoshop 7, I'd bet a dollar it's not legit.

Yeah I can't see someone dropping a few hundred on Photoshop and still being unfamiliar with magic wand and layers.

I'm confused, the image is very simple, why not just use the paint bucket? Even if he wanted the white that's inside the logo to be black it would be real easy. I see no reason to do any C&P or even selecting. Maybe I'm thinking too simple, but the paint bucket should do a great job, and take all of 3 seconds.

Yeah, I mean Photoshop 7 is the latest and most expensive version of Photoshop! No way he could afford it. Oh way, it's older than shit, and can be had for next to nothing. OP should pay for a VPN account on TPB so he could download the FREE version of Paint.net if you ask me...

if you guys could read, OP clearly states he has PHOTOCHOP 7, NOT Photoshop 7. I don't believe Photochop 7 costs nearly as much as Photoshop 7 would.

You owe me a dollar. Why would you (crap on my thread, to begin with) say it's not legal? Just b/c I have software I don't know how to use? I'm not a graphic artist; else I'd not be posting this. I have legal copies of Sony Vegas Pro 8 AND 9 and only know how to use them in the most basic sense.

That should help you with the pen tool. Once you have the path done, ctrl + click it will turn it into selection. Then i would inverse it and change the color to whatever you want

You have to forgive Nik, I believe this would be a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Nik was in a thread yesterday talking about how he uses Thepiratebay to legally download torrents. And now he's accusing a person of pirating a 6 year old version of Photoshop. The irony is delicious.

Thank you. If I was going to pirate it, it sure as hell wouldn't be software that's 6 years old. Nik's just jealous that some people can actually afford to buy software.

Bullshit that you'd throw away money on software that you don't have the first clue how to use. Absolute bullshit. If you work for a company that owns it, sure, but they'd have someone who knows what they are doing and you wouldn't be posting this question here.

I bet you ordered a copy of Maya for the hell of it to!

Thank you, mesthead21. I don't have a pen/tablet but I guess I can lower my mouse sensitivity and try that to drag the lines.

This was helpful. :)

Nik: Do us all a favor and go get bent. Crap in someone else's thread. If you've got nothing else better to do, go yell at yourself in the mirror or something.

What I spend my disposable income on, I don't consider a waste, even if all I know how to do is crop and resize things.

No problem. You could use the magic want but you would definitely notice. The pen tool is way more accurate and not too bad once you get the hang of it. If you still need help you can PM meh

I *was* constructive. i told you exactly how to do it. You don't need layers. You don't need wands. You don't need to change hues. All you need is the paint bucket. That was in my first post, the first sentence. I DID help you, whether you refuse it or not is not my problem.

And I still call bullshit. :)

It's a solid color, it won't look like shit. The edges will be the only thing in question. You then touch up the edges with a paint brush. He'd have to do that anyway using the other tools, but unless he fights with the wand tool, it'll take him a lot longer than just dumping with the paint bucket and feathering in the edges with a paintbrush. This is a 5 minute job.

MY BAD it was a thread about TPB and you said you use torrents. Obviously I was wrong, you get your torrents from those magical torrent sites that have nothing but 100% legal torrents. You getting this bent out of shape over words does tell me something, especially seeing how I'm a "pathetic worthless non-factor fuck" I personally don't let "pathetic worthless non-factor fucks" get to me. Apparently I'm worth enough for you to get all ape shit crazy over lol, excellent my job here is done!
