You're going through something I just went through. The company I worked for merged with another last year and I knew since May of 2004 that my job was not going to last. I found out in January this year that I was going to be laid off in June so I started looking for work. In less than a month I had a job that paid the same and is only 1.7 miles away from my house. Not only are the people there great, I'm learning all sorts of new things, and getting excercise too.
I too went through the panic stage in the beginning. I chewed my wife out for spending $50 on plants once just because I thought we were going to the poor house. Then I went through the angry stage and refused to do any work for the new company. Then I went through the kiss their ass stage which thankfully didn't last long. Then I just got lazy and that lasted until I got my butt into gear to search for a new job. Any you know what, everything was just fine. With your resume you'll do well in the private sector if thats where you want to go. Don't sell yourself short and take the first job that comes along cuz you think you won't get any more offers. You will! Keep the faith brother, and believe in yourself and lean on your friends and family often. That's what they're there for. Whatever you do, don't worry. It does nothing but keep you awake at night and cause you stress. Be strong!
