Pick up "Troublemakers" by Harlan Ellison. It's not Phillip K. Dick, but it's damn good. 😉

I've read some Ellison he's very good.... why can't I remember what it was??

Give me a short outline, I might know it, but I doubt anyone cares. 😛

A Boy and His Dog was one of his most famous. As well as Knox, and a bunch of others. My parents went to see him read Knox, and he made fun of my mom so she hates him.

OHHHHHH yeah...

I worked in a comic shop for a long time, a long time ago... I read bsically anything that wansn't sealed, including Dream Corridor

I'm missing the fabled issue #5. :|

Angels and Demons was the better of the two books. I only read the second one because it was free.

I actually put the book down and wept a single tear for writing when I read the "I'm your father luke" part... I couldn't believe it.. I was in shock..

You mean you waited until you read that part to weep? I saw it coming pretty early. 😛

I was simply trying to suspend disbelief and that was the final straw... I really do try to give things the benefit of the doubt... but at the point I had, had it.

I've learned to trust my instincts. Reading is not a passive thing for me anymore. I'll talk back and yell at the book when it gets bad. I've also been known to be the instigating factor in the mysterious flying paperback situations.

okay this thread is really hard to follow, but ..

Do Androids.. isn't really anything like the movie. There are a couple plot similarities, but the book is far more metaphysical. IMO, it is a work of high literature. It also happens to be the most coherent of any of his works 😉

I would highly recommend "A Scanner Darkly" for your list.

You also may want to check out his exegesis "Exegesis" - his theories have mostly been debunked by modern psychology, but that doesn't (imo) make them less interesting.

You mean all of those drugs (and the scizophrenia?) did some nasty things to his noggin?

If it results in books like PKD's, I'm all for putting it in the drinking water.
I don't think he was schizophrenic, though he was almost certainly schizotypal - and aware of it, as his contemplation shows.
It is generally reported that PKD did far fewer drugs than would be assumed by his writing.

Thanks everybody... I'll report back once I finish 🙂
