Yea, I have a blind date this weekend. Unless she's actually blind, I'm screwed.

PLEASE do not tell me you're trying to get a six pack by the weekend.

Ya.

You can spot train, but you can't spot-reduce.

Or, you could just build a do-it-yourself fat sucking machine.

If you were to lose 50 LBS you would look and feel like a whole different person which in turn would go a long way to improving your own self esteem which probably would cause you to be a lot less depressed and give you a mega boost in self confidence..

Losing weight is not that hard. I went on a diet, and it's easy to cope with. Just do it like this:

Day 1.) Eat normally, excercise a whole lot.
Day 2.) See Day 1.
Day 3.) Fasten. Don't eat anything for a whole day. If you're hungry, drink 3~4 glasses of water. Don't excercise, it'll make you more hungry.
Day 4.) See Day 2.
Day 5.) See Day 2.
Day 6.) See Day 3.

Etc.

Sounds like a sure way to fail.

You didn't get fat overnight so don't expect to get into shape overnight. Start of with a modest goal and once you reach that set another goal that's a little less modest. You don't have to starve yourself, just eat 4 or 5 small meals a day (to keep your metabolism up) and exercise a little every day. Alternate between Cardio and Weight Training until you feel comfortable and then ramp it up. Again the way to be successful is not to be in such a big hurry. Sure at first it will seem like you aren't really getting the results you want but after a while you will see the results and the longer you do it the better the results will be. Patience is the key!

Red is right Drew.

I can't belive I just said that. However it is important to find the root of you unhappiness.

There are two riules to being happy.

If you don't like it and you can fix it then fix it.
If you don't like it and you can't fix it, then being unhappy about it will not change it.

I love naive people. A six pack is extremely hard to get. It takes tons of exercise and a perfect diet, especially if you are already chubby. People who naturally have a six pack, are naturally skinny and have thin skin. It takes a ton of work for the average person to obtain. You might as well quit now.

I lost 12 kg in 2 months like that. Plus, I have a six-pack now. It's not a 2-week diet, it's more like a half-a-year-diet.

This is true. Have you ever seen anyone with a six-pack without the rest of their body being very fit? First work on losing the weight/making chest/tricep muscles, that's easier than getting a six-pack.

So it worked for you. I bet it wouldn't work for the other 99% out there because they wouldn't be able to follow through on it because they wouldn't be getting enough nutrition.

Anyway a skinny runt with a six pack is still a skinny runt. I'd rather take my time, build up muscle and get my abs in shape than go on a crash diet which will not only cause you to lose fat but muscle as well.

Well, I can tell you I'm no skinny runt. I used to be a little bit chubby (and not really chubby, just a little) and it bothered me. So I did this. I'm more muscle than fat, m'boy.

I'll take your word on it. If what you say is true you were in decent shape prior to going on that crash diet. The vast majority of people, even if they were in good shape, would lose a lot of their muscle tissue if they went on that diet as they wouldn't have enough nutrition to keep it..

I have a sixpack (kinda, you could see it when I flex). I always included several types of ab exercises in my bi-daily 1 hour exercise time. I also play a lot of bball for cardio. But the thing that put me over the top was working manual labour this summer where the temperature is so hot, that it wasn't unusual to see everyone with their shirts completely soaked. I got a cool vein that runs along my arm too.

there is so much mis-information in this thread it makes me sad :(

to get your six pack, do 3 sets of 15-20 reps of an upper ab exercise, 3 sets of 15 - 20 reps of a lower ab exercise, and 3 sets of 15-20 reps of an oblique ab exercise. do that once every 4 days or so, and also do cardio probably 3-4 times a week for 30 mins at a time. also start eating right, don't eat a bunch of crap, and lower your carb intake.

here is what NOT do to:
DO NOT do crunches every day, or even every 2 days. your muscles need ATLEAST 48 hours to recover, yes, even your abs. They are JUST like any other muscle in your body so if you think doing them every day is going to help you, you are wrong and it will only hurt you.
DO NOT do one of those fad diets, or that diet someone 5 posts above me made about fasting for one day. that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Just eat healthier and try to eat less carbs.
DO NOT give up after a week. it took you weeks/months to put on weight, its going to take you weeks/months to get it off.
DO NOT eat more calories than you use up. basic weight loss is calorie intake < calory output

again, all the mis-information in this thread makes baby jesus cry :(
