Need new cardio ideas

Can anyone think of cardio alternatives. No running/biking. Nothing like swimming. No machines. Just something I can do in sneakers and shorts that I can do at home.

I was thinking burpees but I don't think I could do those for 30 minutes.

Crazy things like P90X are a maybe but I don't know if that's what I want.

Ideas are welcomed.

I should add that I have a bench and rack and pull up bar available.

Could do a mix of these things:

Burpees
Jumping jacks
jump rope
Box Jumps
etc

Elliptical + Netflix has consistently worked for me.

Ellipitical because it's not hard on my knees. Netflix via a Roku 3 set-top player, which has a wireless headphone jack in the remote control. I workout at 4am, so this way I can get sucked into a show for 30 or 45 minutes & not wake anyone up.

I'm about to do eliptical. Then burpees then something else. I'm going to do 6 "reps". maybe:

Eliptical
burpees
Eliptical
situps/pushups
eliptical
burpees

We'll see how this goes.

Did mostly elliptical. probably did 3x20 situps, 1x10 pushups and 2x10 burpees when taking breaks from elliptical. 25 minutes total.

Quite frankly, I'd rather run.

yupp.. gotta be a funny show and hide teh screen so you dont see how far you have gone. Time slips by and soon you are drenched in sweat.. i didnt think pushups and burpees are cardio 😉

O yes, I am also a member of NCfit club. This is my first week, it is bit sweaty but improvement I can see :|

Look up the "man maker" on youtube. I think that's what it's called anyway...

Also, the Bear Complex is another that should get your heart pumping.

I used to do something like this many years ago:

2 minute rounds + 1 minute rest between rounds

round 1: shadow box
round 2: jump rope
round 3: heavy bag
round 4: speed bag

Repeat for as long as you want your workout to be. You'd think that 2 minute rounds are way too short and that 1 minute rests are way too long but once you get going it definitely does not feel that way. If it's too intense you can shorten the work rounds to 1 minute instead of 2. If it's too easy you can increase the work rounds to 3 minutes. Without a heavy bag or speed bag you can still alternate between shadow boxing and jump roping or you can add another exercise.

I thought you said "no machines"?

If you're going to use a machine get a C2 rower. Beats the crap out of elliptical workouts.

Ya, my wife has an elliptical so I just used it.

Yes, I'd love a rower but when the weather gets warmer I'll be running.
I lived in upstate NY for 4 years, I ran outside all winter long - no treadmills. Just dress properly and wear the right shoes (Gore-Tex with microspikes) and it's great even in snowy/icy conditions, especially trails.

On my non-weight days I usually just do burpees. Set of 10, set of 9, set of 8, etc. until my heart wants to explode. You can then kick up the start to 11, 12, etc. To adjust for more of a challenge.

Did that in years past. This year is crazy where I live. All the sidewalks are covered in snow. They aren't passable and I don't want to run on the road since the shoulders are covered in snow.

But ya, I can easily go out in shorts in 30 degree weather and run. I've done so this year. It's actually not to hard to run in the winter so long as you don't quite as Fall transitions into winter. Your body/mind adjust to it since temperature drops are only a few degrees a week on a normalized basis.

I ran basketball last night and I felt a lot better than I have recently. Ran fairly hard all night but last year I could sprint up and down the court for 90 minutes with no problems. Even last night I had leg fatigue a few times.
