My gf travels from china to the us very frequently and throught out china (beijing, hk, shang hai, guang zhou). Basically, she raised capital to start a hospital and is working on that and has to travel extensively.
Her grad school laptop (ibm t41) is starting to die aside from being a bit long in the tooth.
She basically can spend whatever she wants, but then again, she doesn't want to be extravegant.
Her most important needs are as follows:
Stability/ruggedness
Weight under 5lbs (like to keep a 14in screen)
performance
security
discrete graphics card
minimum requirements would be 2.0+ mobile duo
2 gigs of ram (preferred more)
tolerable graphics card (she uses the pc for everything when traveling)
160g hard drive (pref 7200 rpm)
i work in finance, and i have only ever used ibm/lenovo, its like standard issue, navy/charcoal suit/short hair/ibm laptop.
i was reading good stuff on asus and hp as well as the lenovo.
her budget can be up to 3,000, but since this is a startup, she would prefer to keep it around 2,000.
also does anyone have any thoughts on the fingerprint readers on these things?
any thoughts or recommendations, i would gladly appreciate.
thank you in advance,
rich
