BTW: I don't associate Hitler or Osama bin Laden as a conservative. Hitler believed in socialism and taking people's gun's away which is a Liberal thing. Osama bin laden believe in a Islamic state, also a liberal thing. Most conservatives want less government intrusions into there lives and lower taxes.

You don't associate OBL as a conservative.
Let's see:
Against women's rights: check
For guns for everyone: check
For pushing his religious values on everyone: check
Seems like a conservative to me.
If you knew anything about political science, you would know that Hitler, OBL are on the very far right.
Osama bin laden believe in a Islamic state, also a liberal thing.
So Iran is also a liberal state? or Saudi Arabia? I can just visualize a gay pride parade through Ryadh or Tehran or something like that.
Most conservatives want less government intrusions into there lives and lower taxes.
You are thinking about libertarians. People, please learn some basics about government and politics before taking part in political threads.

FOR ALL YOU FOOLS OUT THERE THAT THINK YOU'RE GETTING NEUTRAL NEWS:

"Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have."
-- Richard Salent, Former President CBS News.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"News is what someone wants to suppress. Everything else is advertising".
former NBC news President Rubin Frank

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Asked to give a toast before the prestigious New York Press Club, John Swinton, the former Chief of Staff at the New York Times, made this candid confession [it's worth noting that Swinton was called "The Dean of His Profession" by other newsmen, who admired him greatly]:

" There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, as an
independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you
who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know
beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for
keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others
of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who
would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the
streets looking for another job.

If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper,
before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of
the journalist is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to
vilify; to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and to sell the country for his
daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting
an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of the rich men
behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and
we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the
property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes. "

"You could get a journalist cheaper than a good call girl, for a couple hundred dollars a month." CIA operative discussing with Philip Graham, editor Washington Post, on the availability and prices of journalists willing to peddle CIA propaganda and cover stories. This makes you wonder.. why is liberal a bad word in America?
I can name several great men who were liberals (no women though because I'm looking at history)... Martin Luther King Jr, Ghandi, Henry David Thoreau, Thomas Jefferson, Jesus
How about some bad conservatives? The entire KKK (and they vote Republican), Newt, Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden

1. Martin Lurther King Jr was actually more of a communist/socialist

2. Ghandi made major mistakes in his country like allowing for pakistan to be formed.

3. Jesus was pro choice.........right :Q:eek::disgust:

MrBurns, Liberal is a bad word in America because liberalism is a threat to moneyed interests. Moneyed interests aren't interested in truth they are interested in money. The obvious answer, therefore, is to smear liberalism via a massive propaganda campaign. More than anything else, people, most people, fear ridicule.

I disagree because Conservative and Liberal don't mean the same thing in other countries. I don't know any American conservatives that are agianst women's rights(except for abortion) and I happened to volunteer to get a woman elected to the House. Also NOT every conservative is a regilious conservative. In fact many christians are very liberal and believe in huge government programs for the poor.

People like Hitler and Osama bin Laden can't really be compared with Ronald Regan or George w. Bush, there "conservative" ideas are a lot more extreme.

Also like I said Hitler took everyones gun away and was a big believer in socialism, I don't know any true conservatives that believe in socialism, it's the very thing that they fight agianst.

So then you go compare Jesus with what ONE liberal stance is in the United States? Smoooooooooth.

Geee? and don?t compare just the economic viewpoint in those politicians. Hitler was an Authoritarian, which means he WAS a conservative.

When I was younger, I too was Conservative and thought the press was Liberal. In retrospect, it seems the reason I thought this was due to the fact that the press covered stories about controversial subjects that didn't agree with my line of thinking. Gay rights, abortion, social programs, and othe Liberal issues would get attention from the media/press, so I concluded that the press/media was Liberal. The problem with that reasoning is that it neglects/ignores the fact that these issues were in fact news, despite my and other Conservatives not wanting to hear it.

I now recognize that the media/press are more interested in selling papers/attention/ratings, and the best way to do that is to report controversy. It doesn't matter whether Conservative or Liberal issues are controversial, either sides issues will be reported if it is able to make money.

No sh!t, that liberal word is thrown around pretty loosely by conservatives it seems. Every time someone disagrees with them on ANYTHING. I thought it was just Texmaster but it seems to be common practice.

A quote from the great Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means".

The media ultimately answers to the corporations that own and sponsor them. It is a circus more than being liberal or conservative

One woman: Anne Coulter. Look her up, then read her book "Slander". All the proof you'll ever need!

need for what? a perfect example of hipocrisy? or ability to use lexisnexis for footnotes?

your a sorry sod if you buy into that book. example after example of bending the truth and taking things out of context. Things she accuses liberals of. Hah!

did i read it? yes. know thy enemy. did it hurt? yes. it was an affront to my sense of logical reasoning/intellectual honesty...

even roeper rips her over and over on her blatent lies:p

I said 10 or more, He said 10 or less.:(

Let me guess they (CNN) had one story that you didn't like so you are going to brand them as a liberal. Every story is going to have alot of facts to get it aired if they didn't they would be sued all the time just like the "National Enquirier".

I think they are very conservative. They had a guest on in late 2000 that he claimed the GWB had an abortion before the Rowe v. Wade. Well if you check the transcripts now they have pulled that whole show. It looks like CNN had an hour downtime. I am sure that they didn't pull anything about Clinton.
