I'm in Florida. The weather here is typically hot and humid for 90% of the year. It rains every other day... For the other 10% of the year, it's about 50 degrees with high humidity for a couple days at a time, then it's back to hot and humid. Sometimes, we even have days that are cold, sunny, and raining. It's very rare to have a dry day where I'm from. I don't think I really need "all weather" tires, since it doesn't snow here and there's only one consistent weather pattern: hot and hotter. But then again, I'm not an expert, which is why I'm asking the AT garage crew! 😉

I'd like something that'll last me a while, won't have too much road noise, and performs decently on wet surfaces for the sake of safety. I'm not racing or driving like an idiot or anything of the sorts. The more we can drive down the cost, the better. I would need to get tires at a local retail store since I am not capable of installing them myself. Please help me find something somewhat standard that I could do buy at the usual places, as opposed to some kind of online only deal (like TireRack).

Thanks a lot!

Do you think it's wise to order from TireRack and have it installed locally? Or should I just go to a "full-package deal" place like Sears and the like?

I know this is hard to believe, but there actually isn't a Walmart in my area that has an auto center. I don't have a Sams Club membership, either. So what else would you recommend?

I looked and wal-mart list several tire/lube ones near Tampa.

But you can always call around and ask how much to install 4 tires you have.

Nay. The nearest Walmart with the tire/lube service is about 45 minutes away from me. It's okay, though, because a local Midas will install them for about the Walmart price, but I can also order directly from TireRack to the Midas.

Thanks, all!

Edit: oh and I'm going with the Hankook Optimo H727. Nothing but positive reviews from all over the internet and Consumer Reports.

nice, i'm about to pull the trigger on Hankook Optimo H727 as well for a 98 maxima, just debating on 2 or 4 tires...

If you wait about a week, I could post my subjective, completely non-scientific test results from the perspective of a "normal" driver?

Update: They're installed and I got an alignment. So far, there's a noticeable improvement across the board... less noise, better traction, smoother ride. As far as the noise goes, it's a noticeable improvement, but nothing drastic. I haven't had the chance to try them in the rain yet, but I'm sure it'll rain tomorrow.
