Hi Guys, i need help on my computer build .. I'm choosing between Core i5 3350P and AMD FX8120, im going to use my old GTS450 512mb ddr5 in the build.

Here's the specs of my choices:

Core i5 3350P
MSI B75MA-P45
Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3

AMD FX8120
Asrock 990fx Extreme 3
Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3

Can someone tell me which is better? my target is to play games like GTA5 , Skyrim, Need for Speed, NBA live etc

Thanks

For gaming Core i5.
For general purpose use, Core i5.
For lower power bill, Core i5.
For heavily threaded apps, FX (maybe).

Why FX8120 and not FX8320 ??

Also, buy a better motherboard with 970 Chipset like the ASUS Motherboard M5A97 R2.0.

Thanks for the reply, but about my GTS450 video card .. will it be a bottleneck in the speed?

Absolutely, and with either CPU. So if cost is an issue, and you can get a great deal on the FX, then get it. Otherwise, the i5 is the better all around choice.

im playing games in resolution between 1920x1080 / 1600x900. im choosing between the two because FX8320 here is not available here. so i have to choose between i5 3350P and FX8120

is 970 chipset better than 990fx?

Core i5 3350P
MSI B75MA-P45
Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3

AMD FX8120
Asrock 990fx Extreme 3
Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3

here's he cost here..

Core i5 3350P - $323
MSI B75MA-P45
Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3

AMD FX8120 - $390
Asrock 990fx Extreme 3
Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3

The AMD FX8120 is much expensive because of the 990fx board .. one reason why i chose that boards for my intel and AMD build is because they have 4 slot for ram max of 32GB so i can expand it if i need to in the future.. but i got a good deal with MSI B75MA board because it only cost $70 versus the 990fx board $141

Get the i5.

Actually, if you really aren't doing much more than gaming, then get an i3 and put the savings towards a new graphics card.

The only reason to buy the 990FX is for Triple or Quad SLI/CrossFire. So no need for you to buy that motherboard. You will be more than fine with 970 or 990X chipset motherboards.

What is the price of the ASUS Motherboard M5A97 R2.0 + FX8120 + Gskill Ripjaw 16GB ddr3 in your country ??

While I do like my M5A97, there really isn't any reason to even consider an FX 8-core Bulldozer for gaming. The 4- or 6-core Vishera, at the right price? Maybe...

whats the difference between H77, Z77 and B75? the costs for B75 are $35 cheaper than H77 boards and a lot more with Z77 boards. do i get a good leap for the +$35? (B75-H77) also other H77 has only 2 slot for ddr3 memory :(

The board is fine, the problem is in that pricey FX8120 CPU... With Vishera(FX83xx) launched you should not be looking at first generation of Bulldozer FX at all. That's why we suggest you buy the i5 system,it costs less and will be somewhat better in almost everything you do. Now if you could buy FX8320 or FX6300 then the choice could be different but since you can't then it's i5.

The difference between the B75 and H77 is one more SATA6 port (H77). If you dont care about that and the price difference is large then B75 will be fine.
