Need Help. Having problem with fan on North Bridge Chipset of KT7-RAID

The fan on the north bridge chipset of me abit KT7-RAID is fluctuating, like speeding up and slowing down. It is very annoying. I know they that the fan is not necessary but I kinda want to keep it on. Is there a way to replace it? I took it off and cleaned it with a Qtip and put a little WD-40 on it. It seems to be working but every now and then it will do it. Basically is there a replacement fan I could get for it besides the one Abit makes? Also has anyone else had this problem?

I have also had problems with chipset fan on KT7. Mine doesnt turn well and is real chunky sounding. The sound is awful so I had to take it off, its my parents machine and noises would make them nervous. They say that fan isnt really necessary, but my system heat has jumped 15 degrees. Its still well below too hot tho.

Try a fan for a 486 heatsink. You'll have to replace the connector but it should fit.

Most people are replacing them with the BLUE ORB.

Where can I get the blue orb and what size is it 40mm? I appreciate the info and if you could give me anymore that would be very useful.

i too would like to know the size of the north bridge fan on the kt7. im thinking of getting a 40 mm sunon fan to replace that madre.

Does the Blue Orb work and fit....it looks like it has two mounting holes instead of the four corners on the KT7 northbridge?

Any other recommendations?

Using blue orbs on kt7s is a myth. The blue orbs doesn't fit. The two pin holes are shorter than the kt7 holes. Need tape or epoxy to make it work.

Your best bet is an old 486 fan

It's weird....I contacted ABIT and they said they wouldn't replace the fan underwarrenty.....the motherboard is only 2-3 months old......they consider the fan to be a "consumable"....

Doesn't matter anyways, in the new chipset, the fan was only needed if the FSB was over 137HZ, and I can bet that you are WAY under that. You probably could remove the fan and see no stability problems🙂.
