you also could add 50$ to your budget and replace the E2140 With a.... E7000 or even 8000...
And if you dig enough, im sure yull even find a Q6000

Well I can't any extra amount as of now..because I'm really tight on budget can't spend more than 120$.
So I'm going for a GPU as of now and will upgrade the mobo and processor to a quad core.
Well maybe in January.
But as of now I need a gpu because my 9400gt is dead I can't even play games like Gta sanandreas..

I would look for a used 5750 or 5770, maybe a GTS 450. Try to get one of those in the 50-70 dollar range. Then look for a used e6600 or e8300 for 40-50 dollars. That cpu is going to kill your performance.

I'm not able to find any c2d..in India..
And I think I'll buy a quad core processor with mobo in near future.
So..will I atleast able to run these game stated above at like20+Fps?
I was able to run gta 4,bf bc2, crysis 2, at 15-17fps and fifa12 with25fps with 9400gt
Will it increase any performance than 9400gt please do reply.

I would suggest something like a HD 6670 or HD7770 for 720p. You might run the 6670 on your current power supply but would have to upgrade it for the 7770.

The CPU is very slow, as you mentioned, but I would think you would still see a pretty big improvement with a new graphics card. The 9400 gt was a low end card when it came out and is now several generations old. You will be going from GPU limited (now) to CPU limited with a GPU upgrade only. I cant be sure, but you might get in the 25 fps area in the games that now are below 20. Running at low resolution does put a bigger load on the CPU relative to the GPU compared to running at higher resolution, so your CPU will definitely hold you back if you upgrade the card. The 6670 would be more than a match for the cpu that you have, but if you plan to upgrade the cpu and keep the GPU, it would be worth it to go to a HD7770 or even HD7850 for future use.

Well the most I can afford as of now is 110$.
So I can only get HD 7750 the most.7770 is bit more costly and I think 7770 and 7850 are overkill for 1280X720 resolution.
I will upgrade my processor to quad core soonish.

I wouldn't risk more than a 7750...
but even so, while it's going to be a huge gain from the 9400GT, some games are not going to work a lot better because of the e2140.

maybe you should get an used card and used faster CPU...

A guy is selling me AMD x4 quad core CPU+motherboard+4gb ram for 90$.And I can buy HD 6670 dr3
Will it be better than buying HD 7750 and pairing it with Intel e2140 and 3gb ddr2 ram?
Please reply.

what amd x4? if it's a Phenom 1 9500 I wouldn't really recommend buying that...

as for gaming performance, it depends on the settings/resolution also the game used...

what about an used HD5750/5770?

1. AMD Phenom X4 9750 2.4 GHZ Processor
2. MSI K9A2 CF Motherboard

That is the original Phenom, not Phenom II. Phenom II was much improved, while the original phenom was not very competitive. It might not be much faster than your current CPU in gaming, unless you can overclock it.

I am not that knowledgeable about motherboards, so I dont know if the one he is selling is any good or would allow you to overclock the phenom, but I dont know how well that cpu would overclock anyway, probably not well.

that's a lot better, the only downside is that is one of the first Phenoms II, so it doesn't support DDR3 memory and AM3 MBs (also it overclock less than the newer revisions), but I think it would be a decent upgrade over the e2140...

I would only recommend the 940 if you can get the AM2+ motherboard and DDR2 mem (at least 4GB) for a low price, because Am2+ and DDR2 memory can be quite expensive to...

about the price, I find hard just to give you a number, but if you look on newegg the cheapest new quad cores are being sold for around $70-$80, so considering the disadvantage of only supporting DDR2 and being used, I think the 940 should cost less... but some people might disagree with that (?),

550 Ti uses more than twice the power,

again, if you are trying to save money, also look for an used 5770, it is as fast as the 7750, and uses less power than the 550 Ti (and a lot less than other old cards like 4800, GTX 200)
