Ok...im sure theres plenty of you here who worked through college, and some who haven't. This is my dilemma. I work now 40+ hours per week, and also attend university full time (5 classes per semester). The money at my job is good (40k per year) but with my current work load at school its very difficult to balance both. I am tempted to quit my job just to focus on my studies, but my wife and I do have some debt which the job would get rid of quickly (2 more months of work). Whats your opinions on this?
Quit full-time job and focus on school, or continue with both? My grades thus far are good (3.87 GPA), but the past few years I wasn't working. Im sure I can continue with both and still maintain a good GPA, but its a risk, and also with work and school I only sleep an average of 3-4 hours per day. I could always just get a part-time job somewhere but the pay will be drastically less, but its better than not earning anything at all I guess.

If the job is good and the work experience is valuable towards your career, I'd cut down on the number of classes you're taking and pay off that debt. Particularly in IT related fields, work experience is FAR more valuable than a degree. Just something to think about..

Acutally I work at compusa. Im a computer systems engineering and ICS major. So really, sales have nothing to do with what im studying, so its not a big loss. Its more of a financial loss than anything.

Got it. In that case, I'd put a lot more weight on your college education. I'd suggest looking at your finances very carefully. Perhaps you could cut down your hours at work, without ditching the job?

Actually thats the major problem. Im in a full time position, and there arent any part-time positions in my department. I wish that was a option, but its not, which only makes my decision harder!

Have you spoken w/ the personnel manager about transferring to a nearby compusa that does have PT positions?

Go to school part time, take no more that two classes a semester, until you get out of debt. Then, if your wife agrees, quit your job or work part time and go to school full time.
