I guess I needed to add the squirrel wasn't necessarily attacked. My dog was simply licking it and picking it up. Never snapped on it, growled, or was aggressive with it. She was trying to play, and obviously broke his spine when doing so. I feel horrible about it, but I feel even worse having said the dog attacked. All the dog did was just chase and play, and her behavior was too rough for the little guy.

I am amazed that your dog even got a hold of the squirrel. Those damn things are quick.
