My old university account is probably going to go away in a few months. I have been using an e-mail alias that forwards to my university account for years, so that is a good preparation step, but I need to get a new e-mail account setup.
I use POP mail, have a severe distrust of the rr.com services in my area (yes, my home has their cable service, but I do not want to use their e-mail services due to reliability/portability concern), and am shopping for something else. I have noticed posts about e-rice.net hosting, which is certainly a fair rate at $10/yr for added webhosting stuff, but I have to wonder about their longevity. I also came across a link to godaddy.com e-mail/webmail hosting for the same rate. I recognize the name, which is a good sign, but I want to hear what others suggest. Please, something you use, have used for a while, or know to be very reliable and long term (but not hotmail.com or mail.com spammy type domains).
So, yes, I'm willing to pay a small amount for e-mail services. I want the place to not generate spam the way hotmail services would. I want it not to filter off attachments that are of reasonable length (if I want to send 10 mb, let me... I know what I'm doing).
I know there's at least 100+ people here who have a domain and would be very generous about donating an e-mail account, but that's one more level away from the source, which is what I do not want. I want to pay, I want to be able to hold onto this account for many years, and I want it to just work (why I will not use the rr.com one I get for free...... stupid blinky "cable" light).
I appreciate any responses suggeting a company with a track record and reasonable prices on what I'm looking for.
